Would changing oil by hour be better than miles?

I've wondered about that. But I know my 5S-FE lost its oil cooler a few years before my model year, and that might be why it's known as a sludger (that along with long factory recommended OCI's and cheap bulk of its day). I do 160km per day but I tend to drive on the faster side with harder acceleration. So is the oil more beat up by that than by more gentile around town driving?

Dunno. I just change it every 2 months / 5,000 miles.

I walked away,,, that seemed to be stretching it a little in my book

That's only every 10,000 miles in my F150... and I run my oil a little longer then that, actually.

jeesh - I would just take 25% of the hours and/or miles if I was that concerned. I do that more than worry about the oil 'type'.

Hours is better if there is heavy duty and heavy traffic is involved i guess.
Sea or water related engines are always under load and serviced by hours.
