WIX 57055XP fail!

I’m changing the oil in my crosstrek and filter doesn’t screw on. Upon closer inspection, I see the wrong thread pitch is the culprit.

Should I go nuclear on Wix for this, ot just return it for a replacement?

Off to oreilly now to see what they say.

Wix has gone downhill since they were bought by M+H. The wrong base plate was installed. If you purchased it from O'Reilly's, take it back there for a warranty exchange and make sure to mention that it is a manufacturing defect. O'Reilly's (corporate) keeps track of that stuff and should report it to Wix as well. That's if the employee there knows (or cares) to report that.

Check the other Wix filters in the store of that PN to see if they're all that way. It's possible it's just that one filter was made wrong, but also possible an entire batch was made wrong.
 
I'm curious, same coo for both? One on the right looks like typical US made Wix baseplate. Used many (5)7356 Napa Gold with same baseplate as right. The one on the left reminds me of the baseplate I've seen more recently on some Mexico coo Wix and Purolator.

As for what to do, if possible, I'd just return to O'R to get refund and be done with it
 
How many people right now are screwing up the threads of their engines?

When I receive excellent service or outstanding value for my money I got out of my way to thank those responsible. I do this so I can feel validated when complaining about a service or a product that resembles donkey excrement.

I suggest contacting Wix directly and making a fuss. Say you damaged your engine and ask who should pay for this. You will get a refund form Wix just as you would from the store and hopefully you will also gain the attention of Wix.

Taking the filter back for a refund is not going to help others. Wix needs to pull these filters back off the shelves.

Yep, I don't think many people who change their own oil are going to be caught out by this? A few of course, but not too many. The filters always spin down very easily, so having to fight with it before the gasket makes contact should be investigated, probably a few aluminum threads will be damaged before you can't crank it by hand though if someone was unaware...
 
wow, same exact part# with different threads. There must be many more out there. As recommended, Pick up the Micrgard Select. Very well made filter.
