Winchester TS26 Gun safe installing Goldenrod

I have the above mention safe, I am looking to install a golden rod in it, the back of it is not pre-drilled, what is the best way to do this and seal it back up again? Also what size drill bit would you recommend?

It just says drill a hole if no access hole is available.. that much I do know, but I want to make it airtight again.. I put a call into Winchester..

Plumber’s putty? Most safes aren’t truly airtight from what I know.

The access hole is pre-drilled from the back.

RTV sealant safe for metals and your guns. Most RTV caulk smells of vinegar when curing - you don’t want that

I see some on Amazon but crazy expensive

Can you recommend any so I know what to get.. something that you may have used..?

I used 3M windshield rope caulk on something similar. Never hardens, non-corrosive, safe on metals and painted surfaces, not as messy as tube caulks/rtv and very easy to work with. Downside is it stays a bit tacky.

Never on a safe. My safe had a plug.

Here's the deal, I looked up that stuff on the Loctite site, you don't want that either. Frustrating.

I have a plug in the back, but I have to drill through the sheetrock and carpet. And then for the little cork around the hole in the back. So I guess either one of them I can use?
