I've had both of these shotguns for a few days now, but I held off posting about them until I was able to run a few boxes of shells through them. Mostly because I put both of these purchases in the, "too good to be true" category. But I took a chance on both guns anyway.

I was very pleasantly surprised when they came to my FFL and I looked at them. And then again after I shot them. Both functioned flawlessly. I came across both guns in an E-Mail CDNN Sports sent me. The links for both guns are below, in case anyone else is interested. Each one was priced at only $125.99.... 2 brand new pump shotguns in the sealed factory carton for just $252.00.

And on top of that they both included free shipping. (They do charge you $6 bucks and change, because Fedex charges if the package requires an adult signature on delivery). No tax was charged for either gun. (I don't know if that was an error or not).

These guns are imported into this country by T&R Imports in Texas. Both guns are made in Turkey. Once again I cannot find fault in Turkish manufactured firearms. Both of these guns are an unbelievable buy. The fit and finish on both was well above the price charged.

Both guns fed both 2-3/4" and 3" rounds, and both cycled smoothly and reliably. The Black RZ-17 Field Gun comes with a 28" ventilated rib barrel, and 5 interchangeable screw in chokes, and a wrench. (Full, Modified, Improved Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder). The XP-15 has an Electroless Nickel finish, and a 20" cylinder barrel. Both guns have very similar stocks and forends.

The one thing I didn't care for was the spring assisted return of the forend. You have to pull the forend rearward against the spring that fits over the magazine tube. Then if you release the forend at that point, the gun will close automatically.

This is bad for 2 reasons. First is it can easily cause short stroking. But more importantly, at most all clay target ranges, they require ALL pump and autoloading shotguns to be stored in the racks with the actions open. This prevents that.

Fortunately, once you remove the barrel by taking off the magazine cap, this spring will slip right off the mag tube, and the gun will then function like any other pump shotgun.... And both of these functioned very smoothly.

I'm very pleased with both of these guns. If anyone is looking for an inexpensive shotgun as a house or truck gun, you can't go wrong with either or both of these shotguns.

I don't know how long CDNN is going to keep them at this price, but they're still listed as "in stock" and at the same price I paid as I type this. They also have a few more models that will chamber 3-1/2" shells, and have a camo finish that are priced for only bit more. (Sorry for the crappy phone camera pics).

I would say without looking at the gun, the spring could be removed without loss of overall function. Some Features on guns are great, others are not. I agree, not a good feature.

Thanks for sharing! So what you're saying is remove the barrel, slip off the spring and it works like any other pump shotgun? I'm kicking around buying another shotgun, I might end up with two............

What is your FFL getting for a one gun transfer?

That's it. Simple and easy. Remove the magazine cap, and the whole forend, barrel, and bolt assembly slide right off. Then just slide the spring off the front of the magazine tube, and reassemble. Takes 2 minutes tops. Then the action slides open and closed effortlessly.

The fact everything comes off so easily makes it super easy to clean and lubricate the entire gun. You can easily access everything. A bit like field stripping an auto pistol.

My guy charges $25. Most around here charge $25 to $40. I have to tell you, I miss the days when I had my Class 1 FFL. (Before Oklahoma City).
Thanks! I used to pay $20, many years ago The gun shops here are difficult to deal with for transfers, they feel they're losing a sale and charge accordingly. My buddy's son does transfers and charges $50, making most deals not so good. I'm kicking the home defense model around, if I decide on it I'll reach out to my friend's son and have him fill out the paper work to get on their list of FFLs.

You can go on CDNN Sports website, and click on, "Find A FFL". You punch in your zip code, along with the mileage of how far you're willing to travel, and they will have a list of, "preferred FFL dealers" in that range of distance that they regularly do business with.

Then order the gun of your choice, and they will ship directly to that FFL.... CDNN ships fast, and you will get a Tracking Number as soon as they ship. You will then know the exact day and time it gets delivered. (usually by Fedex or UPS), and even who signed for it.

I did, there's no one close. I might have to reach out to my buddy's son if I decide to move on it.

I bought a semi auto home defense shot some years ago made in Turkey. A gun dealer in Ky ordered a container of them from Turkey and they were around $200+. The FFL I used had opened and examined it and was very impressed by the quality. It's a really good shotgun. I haven't seen any real crap guns from Turkey.

Almost every Turkish gun I've seen has been top quality. Seems the Turks took over the 1911 market share from the Philippines too.Their CZ clones are top notch. Their budget shotguns are excellent.

Don't write off Illinois as one of the absolute worst for gun ownership. There you must have a Firearms Owners Identification Card, (F.O.I.D. Card), to even be in possession of a firearm.

And it is totally up to the state to issue you one. And if you don't have one, or allow the one you do have to expire, you are then in illegal possession of a firearm(s), and can have them confiscated. This has happened to several people.

I left that place in 1991, and it was bad then with all of their "waiting periods" and such. I can only imagine how bad it is now. At one time they even recorded every round of ammunition you purchased in a dealers book they were required to keep. When we moved here it was like being in another country.

$25 - $40 is reasonable. There is a shop in Colorado that quoted me $150 for a single transfer. All because I was “out of state”.

I had a Glock 17 and an AR in Colorado that I kept in a buddy’s safe. He was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the “loan” so, under Colorado law, we sought an FFL to do the transfer. These guys quoted me $150, for each gun.

So, yeah, $300 for the work, for him to take possession of the two guns that he already had.

In fact, they were such tools about it, that I truly don’t mind sharing their name: Centennial Gun Club in Centennial, CO.

We found a place nearby that did both for $50.

The arrogance, snobbery, and frankly, foolishness of some gun shops has to be experienced to be believed. Some of the dumbest statements I have ever heard have come from the other side of a gun store counter.

Yeah, there is one gun shop here in town that charges $50.00, which is a bit high. It's all 100 percent profit for filling out a form, and logging it into their book.

Most of the shops here are friendly, but do lack knowledge. It scares me when I think about how many get misinformed, or are guided into purchases that don't meet the requirements they need. But make their cash registers ring louder.

I purchased a Silver Eagle from T&R about 15 years ago. Used it as a loaner for relatives. Finally gave it to a nephew and he's still using it to this day.
They used to sell a combo with both a ribbed, changeable choke, 28" barrel and a 21" slug barrel with rifle sights.
