Why doesn't Schaffers oil get more love?

There used to be a trucker on here that used it in everything. He documented a lot of good stuff. Don’t know what happened to him.

Some accolades to Schaeffer that weren't yet discussed--1. Schaeffer oils are used in Richard Petty's racing school cars 2.Schaeffer is the sponsor for IMCA Racing. 3.Schaeffer lubricants are used in our Apache helicopters and tanks. 4. Schaeffer came to Shells rescue during Desert Storm when Shell could not devise a specialty oil to combat blowing sand conditions.

Are you a dealer?

I’ve been using it and no issues. Cheaper than amsoil and Hpl and has SP on the bottle which makes arguing about a warranty issue easier. I’ve been picking up cases when I run to our Missouri office so an oil change cost me about $50. Don’t know if it’s better than valvoline or Mobil but it makes me feel good using it.

I used to use Rotella T 18 years ago in all my excavating iron, dump trucks, and my 6.6 Duramax. My predeccesor at Schaeffer tells me how Schaeffer oil serves one of his larger clients. At 500,000 miles, Cummins recommends a rod bearing inspection so the Cummins mechanic drops a few bearings and after he put the micrometer to them, he tells him the bearings are like bran new, no reason to replace them. He asks what kind of oil --Schaeffer's 5/40, 9000 series, full synthetic. That sold me right there, switched over. My guy passed away last December and I became a rep this April. Dutchess County,NY

You're sort of taking my post out of context but to rebuke somewhat is the fact that to be a sponsor you had better have a high quality racing oil for those expensive engines. Something found on the shelves of Wallyworld wouldn't cut it but apparently race car owners and mechanics know that Schaeffer delivers.

I would guess for any product to survive as long as Shaeffer's (since 1839) has they must have been making a dependable , quality (proven) product? I have used it quite a bit thru the years. I stopped due to the high shipping costs and the (surprising) higher NOACK numbers I found compared to others similar oils.

I mean, M1 0W-40 is found on the shelves at Walmart and is used by several of the 24hr teams at LeMans and Sebring. IIRC, GM also uses (or used, now that there's Dexos R they might be using the Supercar 0W-40) it in their race program Corvettes. That's one of the reasons it's so frequently recommended on here.

Well, I guess if the mighty Exxon Mobil can lower the cost to meet Walmarts price point anything is possible. Not saying that Mobil 1 is not a good oil because it is but myself and many others have always wondered about the GM/Mobil "partnership", especially after Mobil completely changed their formula. FWIW, my 94 Vette has a decal by the radiator to use Mobil 5/30 which I ignore by using Schaeffer's 5/30 synthetic.

The Red Bull Mobil 1 team custom formulates - so high end racing oil is not off the shelf - nor is it shared with others …
This was an NASCAR topic here as well …

Best I can tell - S9000 is +/- $55/gallon - so significant price difference - closer in price to high end stuff like HPL …
