I am old school and use whatever the factory recommends. My Civic and F-150 get the 0w20. The Rav 4 gets 0w16 and the Corvette a 10w30 or 40. I never had a problem with anything that I put 20w oil in as a factory recommended replacement fill.

the 20 weight today is not the 20 weight of yesterday. In fact all the oils are better and getting better. Izt seem to me that most newer cars are implimenting engine oil coolers which controls temp better. At least both of my newer cars have them.
20 can makes sense and 30 can makes sense depending on application and conditions. But sometimes it’s 20 cause of the feels and sometimes it’s 30 cause of the feels. The feels people usually think they’re making sense though. Also cause of the feels.
What feels? If 30 oil is in mexican/Australian manual for my car it is safe to use, period.
Not sure if you're asking seriously or not but this is the "proof" that many of us point out time after time when some claim "0W-20 is required, blah, blah, blah". Of course, some will crawl out from under a rock and claim "the engines are different". They're NOT, they're absolutely NOT.
The feels that makes people think 20 is not “safe” when it’s also allowed.
No one said it's unsafe. It is more, why do you feel it's better to follow the Mexican manual than the American one?

I never said that 20 is not safe. The engineers are telling us that different viscosities are acceptable in this particular vehicle, which means you can use any of them with no risk

I explained my reasons, the fuel dilution drops viscosity from 30 to 20 as per my UOAs
And I said people in post #105 and #108 not you by name.
That's a strange way to look at this. What they are doing is research and have found a range of viscosities that are recommended by the manufacturer and are using one of those. If your owners manual listed (3) oil weights, which would you use ? Can you justify why you're using it over the others ? It's just a choice, nothing more....
Agreed. I heard very wild theories of people trying to explain differences such as different engines, climates, gasoline, and even different oils! None of those arguments hold any water
