wanna get a budget 9mm handgun...max price $350; please...NO USED GLOCK suggestions! I do not shoot them well nor like them; what y'all suggest? thanks...

That is a hard question given the price. I know of no pistol, for general use that has that price out the door. But I have a suggestion that is really close and under. I have 2 of these, (Springfield XD) one with over 12k rounds down the barrel, 100% reliable and accurate.

Another suggestion would be the SD9 Smith and Wesson, there has been a recent revival of these, and they are good quality. I do not own one, but would not hesitate to get one today, if I needed a budget pistol.

IMO, stay away from brands like Keltec, Skky, Canik, etc.. While some reviews of these gun are good, I have seen very very mixed performance out of these brands. If it is a gun you want to work, 100% stay with a known good maker like what I have listed above.

I would suppose that you dont have much experience in this field?

Another vote for the Springfield XD-S!! I LOVE MINE!

I haven't looked at pistols in a few years but I shot my friend's Ruger and it was fine and meets your budget. Taurus also makes pistols in your budget.

AIM Surplus has a P320 Carry and P320 Compact, LE trade-ins, for $350 and $360. They always seem to "lose" all but (1) magazine with these trade-ins though and Sig mags are stupid expensive. If you want new, for that money, you're looking at something like a Taurus G2, G3, or GX4. I know a couple people that own the first two and are very happy with them (you'll find a fair amount of hate for Taurus if you look for it).

If you don't like Glocks, I suggest you look at 9mm pistols that don't share the same grip angle and look at ones that are hammer fired first. There is a vast difference how a Glock feels vs a CZ75. I'm not suggesting a CZ75, I'm just bringing it up because of the stark difference between the two.

^^^^^ This. I have the first gun @burbguy82 talks about above and while I haven't put 12k+ rounds through mine like he has, it is a very respectable gun to purchase.

Go to a gun range and see about shooting/renting multiple ones to shoot.

I bought an SA XD9 when they first came out without shooting it first and absolutely hated it. Sold it to a friend and bought a Gen3 G19 and haven’t even thought about looking back since.

Taurus G3C is a solid choice, aside from maybe needing to polish the feeding ramp (which is supposedly resolved) they seem to be very reliable and have actually out-performed Glock on torture tests.

If you can spend just a little bit more I would recommend the S&W Shield Plus for around $399.

More importantly as already mentioned go to the gun range and get some hands on use with some to find what fits you the best.

If he could spend a little more, he'd eyeball a deal on a Hellcat Pro. It's awesome for carry (only 1" wide), it's stippled, feels good in the hand. And then if he could save up another $200 he could buy a MCarbo trigger and firing pin kit upgrade, which make the Hellcat Pro shoot closer to how good a Canik shoots. Which is ironic, because a Canik comes with an awesome trigger out of the box. And that's for true for every Canik. Crisp trigger break, super-short reset. But the OP is not playing that game. 😉 He just wants something budget friendly. Most certainly, the Taurus fits that bill nicely.
