Where are all the Havoline HM, Snythetic and blends gone to? The only thing in the stores or on amazon is Havoline DS conventional. I need more Havoline.
Chevron has come out with a high mileage oil, probably whatever the Havoline used to be. About a year ago a local chain was clearing out all the Havoline synthetic for $1/quart and I went to like 5 stores and bought all they had.
Now all I see is the DS and 2 stroke oil. I do miss seeing it on the shelves...it was my "first" oil...
If you have a Advance near you Havoline is near you too. They just came off a sale I think it was 12.99 for 5 qts. Still around and still a good choice imho.
I used Havoline for years cause it was cheeeeaaaaapppp! It was always on sale w/ rebate at just about anywhere/everywhere from an auto parts store to a pharmacy or supermarket. FRAM oil filters too. I remember as recent as...pre Deposit Shield days, buying Havoline for .49-.69 cents/qt. And FRAM filters for .99-1.49 ea.
Lot's of it in this area. As said, a nice recent 2 month AAP oil/filter combo deal with a Puro. Classic filter for $12.99, grabbed two with the $10 off $25 purchase.
Next to MC syn blend, lowest priced oil in qts. at Wally for $2.87 all weights, $11.50 a jug all weights except 5w20. Finally a price/value leader again.
I can understand the price increase in Havoline DS, as for the orange can, not at all.
how's the Havoline withe DS shield compare to Quaker state or Pennozoil yellow container? I have used both alternatively in my last 10 oil changes. I have not noticed any difference in term of engine performance.

Yeah, me too. Now it's half the price of a good synthetic! It's kind of odd that Chevron oil remains one of the cheapest brand names with a good reputation, while they jack up the price on Havoline...
