Reading several post in here about new specs coming out for all oils. Havoline got mentioned. Is Havolines Pro DS running neck to neck with PUP and Valvoline Restore and protect ? As far as breaking down the numbers and science behind it. Yall definitely get deeper than my understanding of it all. But love to read the post about it all. Even the disagreements over topics. It’s still learning. And entertainment. Lol $28 for a 6 quart box is sounding good. Mines a 5.3 quart oil change. You guys know y’all’s stuff around here. That’s why I asked. Wardawg

have used Pro-Ds in some of my previous vehicles, its a very good oil with great results, and I would stand it up to the holy grail Mobil 1,and it (Havoline Pro-Ds) has some PAO in it per pds if it matters. it is a different formulation than the life-long oil though.

Running 5-30 pro D's in wife's 24 turbo maverick . Done 5oil changes at almost 23,000 miles. Has not burned a drop . Posted pics of the Ford 910 filters, cans are perfectly clean inside. Has neo mag drain plug. Cannot see any metal on it without a magnifying glass. She drives the piss out of it up and down 30 miles of mountain each day. I think I found this turbo 2.0 loves this oil. Need to do a trans drain at 25,000. Maverick takes 5.5 quarts. The 6 quart bags are perfect.

Yeah the 6 quart box hits me just right. I can pour the left over in a used oil jug and use it when I get enough saved up. I have a direct injected engine. Nissan VQ38DD I short trip it 70% of the time. I live 2 miles from my tiny local town. A round trip might be 5-6 miles. I will severe service it. Back in the 80’s and 90’s I used Castrol conventional and in the 90’s started using Texaco Havoline. Davey Allison era. Followed that Texaco Havoline Thunderbird . I didn’t live far from the Atlanta track. Wardawg.

Might be switching to Havoline pro-ds soon as my stash of Delo 400XSP 5W-40 dries up

My wholesale price for 12qts is $30 :sneaky:  (y)

Nobody knows the answer. If it meets your specifications go for it.

I had a $10 off rebate from Walmart online. So I ordered a box of the Havoline Pro DS 0w20. 6 quart box for $19. I’m hoping the truck likes it. No increase in noise from the engine and no using of oil as they say. I’ll be a new fan. For $29 for 6 quarts is likable . Especially me doing a severe service schedule on this direct injection engine. Wardawg

Havloline (Chevron) is one of the few fully integrated oil producers. They do it all and have top engineers and chemists. They don't advertise, but get big volume deals with large companies like Walmart so they don't have to. The Pro D/S is probably a small step above the Kirkland/Supertech pre-fab additive packs, but very close to the same price (but Kirkland on-sale is hard to beat). I use Havoline in my 6 qt vehicles, and my older 5 qt oil burners, because it is a convenient size. If you are doing 4,000 to 5,000 mile OCI, Havoline, Kirkland, Supertech, it is all good.

I'm currently using Havoline Pro DS 5w30 in my 2014 Ram 1500 and I change the oil every 5000 kms (approx 3106 miles). I find it a good strategy for preventing the dreaded Hemi tick, based on what I learned from the guys on the Ram forum. I do about 5000kms in 1.5 months which means I have to change my oil very frequently. So I needed a good, budget friendly oil and frankly I think Havoline fits the bill perfectly.
I do add Liquimoly MoS2 to the oil to up the moly content. So far my Hemi is nice and quiet.
