I thought this was a Walmart exclusive oil but I noticed today that Havoline Lifelong is on Amazon too. I don’t typically buy oil from Amazon but thought I’d ask all you experts here if you’ve got any news on this not being a Walmart exclusive anymore?

Thanks 👍🏻

I was under the impression that Havoline was making Lifelong available only at Walmart, similar to Quaker State and their Ultimate Protection line.
You don't see it elsewhere much but I don't think its an exclusive. It seems Chevron has only minimal interest in the retail market and doesn't try that hard. There is a Chevron distributor on this board @Foxtrot08 who adds some insight on occasion. I do believe they compete actively in the wholesale bulk market.

I researched the Havoline oil just to see how it actually rated . Good or Bad. I’m no scientist. But from oil analysis posted in various vehicles with mileage stated . And with how it is formulated vs the other Standard Name oils in its category I deem it a good oil. Then add if you have. 5 + quart sump you get a cost savings. $28 / 6 quarts.
Like to add I’m not scientist. And any of the Store name oils in rated oil for your vehicle will go 5000 miles and do its job. I’m using it for the 6 quarts for $ 28. Wardawg

I’d happily use it except I don’t need 6 qts of oil. All our vehicles take 4 qts and change. The leftover fraction is easily put into a qt container for misc or later use. But the extra full qt and change is more of a pain so no Havoline for me. Also use the plastic jug for used oil disposal.

My 2018 Sierra 5.3 takes 8 qts, so I’d need two boxes just like I would with any other plastic 5 quart jugs. Without the clear window running down the entire side of the box to get the last 2 quarts in, it might be too much of a pain to deal with. But for my son’s 2020 Terrain which takes 6 quarts, this would be perfect.

Chevron has very little interest in the PCEO market currently. Especially in the wholesale markets. Their main focus is industrial / commercial. Very good product. But, just in my world, not competitive.

My grandfather was a mechanic for the railroad, among many other jobs in his 45 years. All they used there and all he used on his personal cars was Havoline. He had an old Pontiac that he drove from southern Ohio to northern Ohio after he got transferred and got almost 300k out of it on nothing but havoline. That car was such a run down rust bucket, that when he traded it. The dealership used it in the Demo derby at the county fair. It broke his heart.

I don’t know why Walmart here in Texas doesn’t carry Havoline 6‑quart boxes.
Must have a product algorithm for geographic sales. The Havoline Lifelong 6qt boxes are pushed pretty hard around me (Sacramento area). Not as much as Mobil 1 but more than Pennzoil or Valvoline at the store closest to me

I’ve used a lot of the Havoline Pro DS (and various lifelong iterations) over the years in several vehicles.

6 quarts for $28 is a good deal if you are a 5+ quart user. Otherwise you have to chase whichever brands 5qt jug is on sale and then inevitably pay full price for an additional single quart.

My latest oil change was like $39 (with tax) for The Pro DS and a Toyota filter (Walmart).

In most places you aren’t getting the oil for that price.

As far as quality - I gave up caring a long time ago. Crap engines are going to fail regardless of your choice of oil - good engines are going to run regardless of your choice of oil.

I doubt it’s any worse than the equivalent name brand.
