Well, I went by an AutoZone a couple days ago and they had a bunch of oil on clearance.
Several Brands of dino for 1.99 a quart, or 7.99 a gallon. All 15w40
And a couple different brands of Synthetic 5w30 and 10w30's for 3.99 a quart. No Gallons or 5qt jugs of synthetic.

I kind of want to go buy it out, or see if the Manager is willing to negotiate to get rid of it, but I already have somewhere around 40 quarts of oil in my stash. Which is several year's worth of OCI's considering that I can do 1 year intervals easily on the Synthetics, as I don't drive as much as I used to.

How much of a stash is enough?

NEVER!!!!!!

She was already in a bad mood that day because she couldnt find something for the yard she was looking for. And presto! she opens the shed door to reveal my now dwindling stash of GC. Had she seen it at it`s peak,I`d probably be living in an apartment as we type.

With two vehicles I haven't been able to justify storing more than 40qts to myself. That's 4 changes for each vehicle, at my rate of change, about 16 months worth of oil stored, plus the four months worth running in each vehicle.

My partner has accepted by love for me my love for oil and that we have 1 closet in our apartment devoted to it all... Yup no room for house stuff, just oil that was on sale or that I had to have.

He has an obsession for DVD movies and CD's and I don't bother him about it and he respects the "oil closet".

It's across from the chair I normally sit in in the living room so I can stare at it while watching TV!

It's all packed in boxes as I'm moving soon but I will snap a picture for BITOG when I'm unpacked at the new place. It really is insane and the fire department I'm sure would have great concerns about that much oil in the building.

I'm just glad I am and will be on the second floor and I can get out above the lobby entrance roof if there was a fire because the closet is by the main door!

Hahaha,oh man that`s a good one!!

Am at about 100-150 quarts. In a perverse "dollar cost averaging" I only bring new in if it's cheaper than what I already paid, and that's around $1-1.25 a quart. Am always finding stuff that "would be good in a beater", the latest haul being QS 20w50.

My garage has a crude "attic" consisting of a couple chunks of plywood in the rafters, I keep oil up there in addition to the shelves the wife knows about. Should put some girlie magazines on top to hide everything.

I had over 200 quarts at the peak. But I change oil for a number of people. I'm still using some of the Shell oil I stocked at 59¢ per quart some years ago. I've never yet paid more than $1 for conventional oil. Also, some of my oil is SJ rated and reserved for my tappet engine.

Some of the deals lately have been for synthetic oils. There was a while I was stashing that pretty good.

The price of motor oil went up in the past few years, so I stopped buying and I'll be using up my stash. Hopefully by that time the price of oil will come down to under $1 per quart (probably not).

I don't stash oil, except for the John Deere, the van and the F150, I go get it when I need it, but I am a MMO and tcw3 nut.I keep that around, but only a few gallons

A few years ago I had well over 100 qts, don't remember exact #. Now- unsure of exact count, can surely provide oil changes for the Dakota for at *least* the next 3 yrs. That should be enough, right? But since O'Reilly has Mobil Delvac for $8/gal, & Pennzoil Platinum for $4/qt(ends today)- and since I only have 1 oil change on deck for the lawn tractor, & have a 6-qt mini case of Pennzoil Platinum in my stash, & the Dakota 3.9 V6 takes 4.0 qts per change- last week I bought a gallon of Delvac & 2 qts of Pennzoil Platinum!
