I have a 2008 dodge ram power wagon with the 5.7 hemi that specs 5w20 also have 2009 honda accord with a 3.5 v6 also specs 5w20 in it. both are used for city driving during the week with some highway use on the weekends. i have been using amsoil 0w20 in both at 5 to 7 thousand mile changes but the price of it is getting to me . i would like to stay with a synthetic oil any recomadations ? is my oil change interval to long for these conditions? thanks

I'd go right down to WM and purchase PP or Mobil 1 5w20 in the 5 quart jug. If your set on 0w20, many WMs carry Synpower 0w20, but only in the single quart containers.
Any of these should be good for 7K OCI's.

Quakerstate 5w20. $19 at your local Wal-Mart. Or if you have a Napa in town, they are selling their Napa brand synthetic for $3.29 a quart til the end of the month. It is made by Valvoline and is similiar to Synpower. It is high quality. Buy a few cases and store them away. $16.45 for 5 quarts is a deal!!

ok after seeing that thread about the 3.5 ivtec i looked in my fill hole on the honda . not sluged but varnished good. will pennzoil ultra clean this up ? i am thinking of changing the oil in the honda every three months no matter how many miles are on it? i thought honda where better than that! the oil changes in it have been right at 6 months and 5k on the oil with the 0w20 amsoil and varnish! i hope ultra will clean it up. i just changed the oil in it today with 5w20 ultra and a Mobil 1 m1-110 filter how long should i go for max cleaning power? thanks

ok every one hear will yell at me for saying this but i would go 3k oci in the honda. its cheaper than having to pay for problems later. and yes PU is an awesome cleaner i would stick to it.
now this goes against every post on bitog but i feel with those engines having problems why risk it?? 3k or 3 months with PU would be good for it. good insurance for THAT particular engine.
also kreen once a year could not hurt

Wow your going to get a plethora of this oil is the best and this oil sucks opinions.
I would go with a 0w20 if it were me Mobil 1 since your wanting to step away from Amsoil, if you can find pp its a good one or even edge in 5w20
if you want to run 5w30, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Edge, PP, PU man its hard to go wrong. Choose one and do some UOA. I don't think you'll have any trouble with the OCI's you desire with any of those oils.

could i run rotella 5w40 in the hemi since it don't have mds? i tow quite often with it. i hope the ultra works well in the honda .from the looks of it that engine is hard on oil!

i think i would step up to a 5w30 before jumping in with 5w40.
what about Mobil 1 0w30 green cap for the truck? or edge 0w or 5w30?
