Asking this question becasue the Chevy Dealership put in Dexos 1 oil in my Brother's Chevy Cruze Deisel that requires Dexos 2 (5w-30) Diesel oil....And he has driven it 5000 miles...Car already has DPF issues as it is....
I wouldn't worry about it, but it seems like an opportunity to get some low cost or free work done on the DPF problems.Asking this question becasue the Chevy Dealership put in Dexos 1 oil in my Brother's Chevy Cruze Deisel that requires Dexos 2 (5w-30) Diesel oil....And he has driven it 5000 miles...Car already has DPF issues as it is....
This.I wouldn't worry about it, but it seems like an opportunity to get some low cost or free work done on the DPF problems.
I'm sure GM wouldn't hesitate to back out of honoring their warranty if they knew you had regular oil in the car for a much shorter time than that.
He needs something that is Dexo2 but more importantly, MB229.51/52.HD oils often have better(more?) soot dispersing capabilities which could lead to more wear if they aren't present. Not for a single oil change though. Maybe newer non-HD oils have better dispersing ability for direct injection use as well?
Yes, So that's exact;y what we are doing!I wouldn't worry about it, but it seems like an opportunity to get some low cost or free work done on the DPF problems.

So did the dealer actually admit to installing the wrong oil?Asking this question becasue the Chevy Dealership put in Dexos 1 oil in my Brother's Chevy Cruze Deisel that requires Dexos 2 (5w-30) Diesel oil....And he has driven it 5000 miles...Car already has DPF issues as it is....
Yes, now the car needs $3500 in repairs they said... car has no power after 5000 miles of wrong oil in it...So did the dealer actually admit to installing the wrong oil?
What is the specific repair the engine needs?Yes, now the car needs $3500 in repairs they said... car has no power after 5000 miles of wrong oil in it...
Sounds like the DPF issues were already happening before the improper oil change….however the owner should be able to get some consideration due to the screwup, I would think.Asking this question becasue the Chevy Dealership put in Dexos 1 oil in my Brother's Chevy Cruze Deisel that requires Dexos 2 (5w-30) Diesel oil....And he has driven it 5000 miles...Car already has DPF issues as it is....
And you know this how? The vehicle already had issues.Oh, Dealers should know better. 5,000 miles with wrong oil definitely cooked the DPF.
Again, what were the specific repairs that are needed?Yes, now the car needs $3500 in repairs they said... car has no power after 5000 miles of wrong oil in it...
