What do you guess the average OCI interval is?

i think it would be equally interesting to get a view of how people feel is the distribution, not just the average (mean) as compared to the standard bell curve.

I think definitely the main hump that still service 3k-5k /6months then it flattens out with a long tail rather then the standard curve drop offs.

I think its been 5k for at least a decade. Other than us, very few people change their oil on time.

As OLM is rapidly adopted that number will spike. Procrastinators will be more likely to take action when the gas gauge like OLM heads towards 0. 7500 will be the new avg in a few short years and continue towards 10k as the oldies die off.

I would guess that at the left of the curve, you have people doing riduculously short change intervals, like 1.5-2K, since that what was recommended for their 1962 VW, and it was a really good car (until it swallowed an exhaust valve), and since they think it worked for the VW, they're still doing it on their modern car with a full flow filter using modern oil.
At the right of the curve, you have those who just ignore oil changes, along with brakes, tires, interior detailing and exterior washes, as well as every other part of routine maintenance and thus end up running absurdly long drains on a bulk oil of unknown quality.
Then you have us.
Among us, I'd guess that 6K or so is probably pretty close to average.

My father-in-law puts between 500-800 miles a week on his van for work and he still does his oil change around 3k miles. I've tried telling him that he could go 5-7k on his 2011 honda. But he is in his late 60's and refuses to change.....

I understand you FIL. It is hard to change, I was there!

Now, that I finaly believe we can travel > 5K mile OCI's, it's taking me almost a year to do so. We are traveling ~ 6K-7K miles per vehicle in our household. So, I just change the oil/filter per vehicle 2wice/year.

I'd guess about 5,000-6,000 miles. If you take the fanatics, and the people who neglect their engines, I think those numbers would be a fair assessment of the average OCI.
