What brakes do you guys use?

I was all in on ebc but after a few fitment issues and the non stop dusting, regardless of what line used, I’m done with them. The stopping powers is second to none, but the center slots on every pad used fills up with their break in coating and needs chiseled out. Kind of defeats the purpose of the slot. One car still has oem, only 17k on it. Another has thermo quiets, which are fine but the rears came with 30% less material. For most cars that’s not an issue, but it is for sure on Nissans under sized pads. My 3rd car has advics and although I lost a tad bit of stopping power, they’re fantastic. No dust and plenty of bite with a little more pedal. The adbics on are on my 18 rogue which is famous for pad knock and the advics are spot on in fitment.
I’ve had luck with ThermoQuiet on a Subaru but they wear quick. Same deal with a Ford. The OE suppliers do a much better job with pad fit - Akebono, Advics and Bosch usually installs wirh little drama but the OEM dealer pad will have nicer finish and attention to detail. I’d have to modify aftermarket pads to fit. Aftermarket pads will use in-house made backing plates or they’ll buy them from a third party(NRS).

I’m not convinced with EBC for daily drivers, they made their name for racing.

Today installed Bosch Quietcast pads and rotors combo on a 2009 Toyota Camry. I am not impressed by the brake modulation. It feels almost like installing Akebonos. I mean - can't complain for under $280 for a complete kit. They are most definitely quiet and that's undeniable. Not to long ago I installed Duralast Elite pads with Gold rotors and man those were great but for almost double the cost. They were installed on a different 2009 Toyota Camry.

I just replaced brakes on 2 vehicles for squealing.

1. 2019 4Runner that sounded like a school bus. Raybestos Element3 pads came off. It’s been squealing since I installed them a year ago, but only recently got really bad. This was the last of the more recent element3 pads with my name on them rolling around. Older element3 was my goto for both stopping power and pedal feel. Newer ones have been garbage.

2. 2015 Camry. Had repeatable brake squeak when starting from a stop, and first mile cold weather squeal. Off came akebono pads with maybe 10k on them. Found the issue upon removal, one of the pads had material that was beyond the rotor, causing it to wrap around the edge of the rotor. No bueno. I’d gone back to akebono after element3 were causing so much trouble. I’ve not cared for ake’s pedal feel, ever, but they have always been quality products for my use.

In both cases, Autozone gold pads went on, and frankly, I’m impressed. They had better pedal feel than the akebono, and the stopping power and modulation was excellent. I didn’t look at the Camry, but the pads for the 4R were GG rated. Both vehicles were quite pleasant and usable for road driving. Break-in was simple and easy. I guess I found my new goto.

Just started using bosch quiet cast.
2 cars so far happy
Was using power stop

The Elite pads are Bosch. I’m happy with them on a Sienna.

Bosch, Bendix, Powerstop kits, O’Reilly for their semi coated rotors and Durago for their coated e rotors. I will try Akebono proacts next time.

Akebono is always my first choice, but I've used Raybestos Element3 pads on a few family vehicles as well, and they've all performed great. I haven't had any complaints.

I just installed Brembo Prime pads front and rear with new rotors on my 07 Camry. I've only got about 500 miles on them so far but thus far, I am impressed. Front pads are GH and rear pads are GG. So far smooth as glass, good initial bite, and good feel. we'll see when they break in a little further how they progress.

These replaced Raybestos Element 3's which were on the car for about 125,000 miles. The rear brakes were toast, but the front pads had about 4-5 mm still on them. So far from my recollection the Brembo's have much better feel when compared to the EHT's when the EHT's were this new.

Again, only 500 miles on the Brembo's, but so far they feel great.

a full set of bosch quietcast coated rotors and quietcast pads on a 2011 impala a few weeks ago.
fitment was great. No issues whatsoever.
about $235 for front+back pads and rotors

Was slightly surprised the rear calipers were wind in style on a 2011 but I had the wind-in tool at hand.

Previously I had used mostly raybestos element 3 line.
but the rear pads I did over the winter on the 2020 elantra are Very squeaky.. backing up in the rain is an embarrassment.
add in the fact that first brands is out of business.. and I'm moving on for now.
