What are your "budget oils"

Super Tech would probably be number one for me. Carquest runs a sale on their house brand once in a while.

I never - or rarely - will I buy any oil unless it's on sale. I just loaded up on Mobil 1 synthetic because it was on sale and because of their rebate (still waiting for that check by the way).

Why anyone would pay shelf price for oil is beyond me.
I have an embarrassingly large stash of mostly syn oil which cost well under two bucks a quart after store deals and MIR.
A lot of this oil was actually FAR and some of it was actually revenue positive after MIR.
All oils are budget oils if you buy them at the right time with the right deal and MIR.
Those who would say that their stash resides on the shelves of Walmart are welcomed to spend more.

Not any longer, I think it went up today although the HM version is $13 and change.

If I didn't want to use a mail in rebate I'd just buy Supertech. Since Penzoil has the $10 rebate and they make it so easy to submit, I'd say Penzoil Platinum from Walmart + the rebate gets you a pretty good synthetic for just over $2/quart.

That is my next two oil changes. I don't stock up on product because it has a shelf life.

Yup, my budget stuff is PPPP, M1EP, or AFE for $2/qt. I still have a bunch of QSUD for $2/qt from Menards...I can't believe I overpaid for it!

Smittys when its on sale and is under $9.00 for the 5 quart container...Good Oil
Same goes for the formula shell when on a good sale at the home depot.

GTX is usually my budget oil, it's usually the cheapest if there are no sales on. Otherwise, whatever is on sale cheaper than GTX is what I get.

Silk, I'm with you on the GTX. But can you get any name brand oil at KMart, BigW, etc in NZ ?
Or house brand oil at Repco ?

I've only been in a KMart once, and didn't stay long enough to see any oil. We have the Warehouse here, they have cheap oil, some good brands at good prices. SCA has such a good range and always a sale on something I will go there for cheap oil. I've got a trade account at our local Repco, but cheaper to get oil on sale there as sales don't apply to trade accounts.

And of course there is me decanting 10cc out of 4 litre jugs of MSL for a month....that gets me 5W-30 Edge.

Anything really on special up here would qualify, simply because anything you can imagine here can also be massively overpriced. You can pay $25 this week for a 4.4 L jug of Castrol Edge black bottle at Walmart Canada or grab it at full price from a competitor for well over double that.

I just ordered a case of Chevron Supreme 5w30 on Amazon. 22.88 shipped. Not bad for 12 quarts of name brand oil.

I don't mess with oddball store brands. I realize many of it comes from reputable companies and I'm "buying the label" but hey, my ketchup bottle says Heinz on it too.
