What are you working on today?

New motor and transmission mounts into the MB E320, along with new air, fuel, and cabin filter.
Passenger side mount was collpasing and leaking it's goo. The mounts are basically rubber bags filled with silicone jelly sitting in an aluminum cup.
Soooo smooth now. No vibrations in the steering wheel and all I can hear is the injectors when accelerating. Quiet when cruising, as it should be.
The engine mounts on the OM642 diesel aren't that hard to do if you remove the air filter boxes so you can work both above and below.
The manual says drop the DPF to take the passenger side mount out towards the rear. That's not necessary. If you disconnect the air line from the intercooler to the intake, the mount can come forward and up through the top. Driver's side just drops to the rear.

Washed and waxed all 3 cars. Jacked up the deck stairs where they were sagging, dug up the ground beneath and poured concrete in and smoothed it out as an elevated footer to stop the sag. Noticed my wife’s car was cranking slow, so I ordered a new battery for it.

2020 Jetta 1.4T, 7k miles give or take
Build date 9/2020, 7000 miles, still running the factory OCI 😳
You just can't win with these people
They're gonna decide whether I do an OCI with a FCP Euro kit, or they finally allocate time to take it to the VW dealer where maintenance is free
Only a 4qt capacity, and the "Check oil level low" message came on, so I topped off with whatever I had laying around
Trust me, I doubt that's what will kill it :(
The audacity of these people
From the same family that pulled the same stunt with the 2020 Elantra, and the 2005 RAV4 :ROFLMAO:

I also went and looked at a vehicle for sale, maybe time for me to upgrade?
...I didn't think a 2010 Fusion with 36k could be that hammered

Were you able to find a lower hose with expansion spring? Seems the aftermarket wants to cut corners and makes this difficult

Looking over a 2010 MB C300 4Matic for a friend. Needs front and rear rotors, a few exterior light bulbs, CEL on (will scan tomorrow), service past due reminder is also illuminating, rear subframe is rotten, inner cv boots and there's a front end clunk over bumps for me to investigate tomorrow plus an oil leak. Maybe I should sell the Legacy and make this a new project car.

Spent an hour fiddling with forscan and the 2018 F150. The H8 battery is getting tired, but shouldn’t yet - there’s also a small solar panel on the camper shell that keeps a maintenance charge on it even though BMS tends to hold it at 12.4V. The truck went to its 30 day cycle today and decided to put a steady 14V charge on it, and I’ve watched it drop below 12V today before it did that. So I got curious.

learned that the newer versions of forscan have more menu items to work with, and that opened up a whole new set of parameters. I played with a few combinations and left it set with a larger capacity AGM 70ah size and a 92% desired state of charge instead of the factory 80%. I don’t want to make major changes… a little at a time, see how that affects it.

oh. And poked the blockage out of the eu2000i main jet, again. What’s up with this thing? I even added a fuel filter the last time I did it. I’m not sure if it’s debris or some kind of buildup, but it’s never known gas without stabil and never sits more than 2-3 months without use.

Axle seal at rear diff on '07 CX9

I get oddly superstitious about driving in new seals. I want to do it right with minimal chance of damage to the new unit.

I found for this seal (National 710218) a drop of 2" pipe fits great. However I didn't trust saw cuts to be perfectly flat so I faced a drop in the lathe and chamfered both ID and OD to remove any sharp edges.

Ideally one would have the proper specialty driver with male end to reside in the seal and keep the spring from (maybe) popping out, but I didn't feel like machining that today!

Man I need a Lathe, Going to look at a 12" Clausing this weekend.....But like every other Lathe I've looked at lately....It's probably worn out?

Easy day today:

Rear strut assemblies on a '07 Prius

4 wheel brakes on a '19 XC90, my Launch scanner worked perfect putting the rear calipers in and out of service mode.

4 wheel brakes with calipers on an '03 Blazer. Customer knows it's a lost cause, but it was her father's truck therefore sentimental.

Recirc door actuator on a Rabbit. Not difficult, but it took a bit to get the actuator lined up

For three days now I've. Been working on Ford E 450 motor home rear brakes and defective upper ride rite mount. Upper frame mount was cracked. Got it fixed at welders shop. Caliper had a torn boot and frozen piston. Got a remanufactured caliper with phenol pistons. Had trouble getting lower sliding pin to fit.

Customer supplied their own parts, everything came from Napa. No spring in the lower hose.

It puts you more into the quest for unicorns but if you can get something with a factory collet closer you will NEVER regret it for smaller parts, precision parts, or parts where jaw marks just aren't ok.

2013 Nissan Altima 6 codes.
P0300, P0301, P0302, P0138, P117A, P17F1-00.
Swapped cyl.1 and cyl 2 in Cyls 3 and 4. Cyl 2 coil was melted where wire was connected to coil shorting on tube. Got 2 coils as all customer could afford then when it came in cylinder 2 and 4 misfire. Pulled number 2 coil and cable stayed in and fuse internal along with cable was apart so new coil in number 2 as well as 4.
Replaced CV boot internal passenger side as well as front and rear brakes with rotors. Last brake job was pad slap all the way around. I use a product called caliper lube which held up great allowing brakes to go 70000 miles even with Door Dash.
She is saving up for oxygen sensor next. Can't believe Denso coils are made in China now.
165130 miles.
Just an update. Customer got letter from Nissan that due to customer satisfaction they will replace the rear O2 sensor with P0138 for free for 10years or 200k. I told her to make an appointment.

Just winched out a small Maple tree - 5 years same spot and size - leaves looked fine - trunk did not …
Ordered Superior Hybrid Poplar … Going for fast after wasting 5 years on that Maple 🍁
