What are you eating right now?

No pics - the neighbor went out fishing for tuna, he gave me a few chunks of bluefin. Turned that into tuna sashimi - found a legit wasabi powder at a local fish market and wakame salad.

Working in DC for 36 hours and the only restaurant under one mile from the hotel was a Afghani restaurant. The last time I had Afghan food was in Kabul in 2003 and I am not so fond of it. I walked to this restaurant. Ate outside, other than some misquotes a really nice night.

Ordered beek kabobs. Super duper spicy, thankfully had some hummus to dip the meat into and cool down the spice. Really enjoyed the meal, but likely will not look to have afghan food for another 20 years.

Huh? That statement don't make sense. If you really enjoy the food, most people can't wait to have it again.
Makes perfect sense I might eat some Spaghetti and real enjoy it alot but probably not have it again for 5 years because it's God awful for you.

Except what he showed in the pic wasn't so unhealthy that you couldn't enjoy it every month. Looks like the beef was pretty lean, the rice was long grain, and the humus is pretty healthy.

I understand he might make it at home or whatever just probably won’t get back to a Afghan restaurant soon.

Fair question.

On the menu, the only item that appealed to me I ordered. The owner was the chef/ cook, and he prepared the meat wonderfully. Any less than the owner cooking in the kitchen, I likely would have struggled with the meal. When I had a first bite of the beef, my mouth was on fire. Only after I figured out to dip the meat in hummus did the enjoy factor start to kick in. The rice was wonderfully prepared also, but with spices that I don't desire. Last week I was in Salt Lake City at a Greek diner and had rice, I am sure the SLC diner used chicken stock instead if water when cooking the rice, that I loved.

Of huge note- I am not a fan of spicy food.

The meal was so well prepared, owner behind the stove cooking, and came to check on me three times. I am thrilled he can make a living in the USA. And the owner works hard. And a super nice night to eat outdoors. Meal went great, but not something I am looking to risk in hopes of future success.

If anyone is interested- here is the website for the restaurant: https://www.thekabobi.com/ 4.6 stars on google with 227 reviews.

So you won't eat Afghan food because its too hot? OK that's different, but I still don't get how someone can say they enjoy it and then not want to have it again, unhealthy excepted. Maybe semantics.

Spicy food doesn't mean hot food, it means flavorful food, or maybe that's just me. I don't like even medium hot food, but do go to one Afghan place where the level of heat is reasonable.
