What are you eating right now?

Working out of town tonight.

Sometimes at dinner you win, sometimes you lose.

Scary expensive steak dinner. Brutally bad. Even the corn from the can was inedible. Bake potato is super bad, how can a bake potato be bad at a steak house. I am guessing the meat from the very pricey steak came from a dairy cow that wass in it's deathbed for old age.

I lost big tonight at dinner. But there is a positive. The glass the diet Pepsi came in was a nice and thick glass, enjoyed drinking out of it.

Sucks when you pay for a good meal, and get something like that! They can mess up a steak easy, but canned corn and a baked potato?
Thankfully I seldom eat out and I'm a pretty good cook.

Hoping to maybe eat out tomorrow night. Daughter is getting married Sept 9th. My soon to be son-in-law is picking me up tomorrow at 4:00 PM. Driving me to the city and get my tux for the wedding. I hate city crap, but oh well. No idea on his time frame, but if we are in the city, I would like to buy him dinner.

Hope your next meal is better GON!

The potato looks like it was cooked every week. For around 26 weeks.

found several of my previous spots are not as good now … probably a combination of supply chain and staffing changes

Lately its been the help(servers) not the kitchen with letdowns.
waited 15min for a table in half full dining room (probably more like 35% full)
short staff but they have 5+ servers..
ours had 2 tables and she spend 15min in corner texting.

never bought the ketchup.. or apple butter.
Didnt get a drink refill 1 drink limit I guess.
Wife was out of water before the meal came.

or checked in with us (someone else dropped off food).
The food was missing a side.

told her we were ready to go after flagging her down took another 25min to get bill.-- Yes I timed it.
Second time I've tipped 0$ in 20 years.
This was on a 22$ bill.
Normally I would have left between the 4$ the min tip for 2@lunch up to 7-8$ for superior service.

FWIW it was crackerbarrel and I got chicken tenders she got.... fish dinner?
Food was decent besides not having condiments and missing hushpuppies.

They didnt ask me how everything was at the checkout.. and that was just fine.. I didnt want to talk about it.. just move on.

I'm probably on some girls angry tiktok now about dirtbags who dont tip

JD,
Congrats on your Daughter's wedding!!

Let us know how dinner is with your soon to be son in law. And what you talk to him about.... if you need some suggestions, finances, mutual respect, balance in life, men buy big toys AFTER their 40th birthday to include Super Duty pickups......

Thanks GON! I'm sure we will be fine, they have been together 5 years now, and are finally tying the knot. I've seen the mutual respect and the love in their eyes every time they talk, so that's a given already. Mike is kind of a quiet guy and hard to get to know at first, but those days are long over. We can talk on the phone now or in person for hours. I could not ask for a better man to marry my Daughter!

My Granddaughter is 17 now from the Daughter's first marriage and a senior in high school. Mike treats her as his own and they both love each other very much. Added plus. He is there to love and protect both of my girls. They bought a house together about 1 year ago. Daughter is a RN and Mike works for the county. They both make good $ so that base is covered. Just got my will updated a few months ago. Daughter was there and knows what is what. Went to my 2 banks and signed over payment on death. She has power of attorney now, if I can't make decisions. Got Granddaughter put on the title of my 2018 Subaru Forester, as in Mark or Hayley. So the car is hers when I pass. 401K and other investments covered as well. 10% to Granddaughter, 45% each to Son and Daughter.

Mike was at first afraid of guns. Daughter has a CCW, with a handgun in the car and house. That was new to him, but she introduced him to shooting, and now he loves it! Have a private property in the Loess Hills of Iowa where we shoot. Melissa said Mike would like a gun of his own. So I gave him my S&W model 17, 1970's version, .22 LR for his birthday. Figured a .22 LR would be a cheap training tool. (For him anyway, I see they are fetching close to $1000 on the market these days) LOL! Had already given her a S&W model 28 of about the same vintage in .357 Mag.

Anyway, we went shooting his .22 for the first time a couple months ago. He is getting pretty good and can shoot better than myself. I'm getting old and shaky. Another friend brought an AK-47 and Mike LOVED shooting that! Mentioned that I have 2 of them and lots of 30 round mags. Daughter told me a couple days later, Mike wished that I would have given him an AK-47 instead of the handgun.

LOL...I see an AK-47 added to their wedding gift register!

Hope your next eat-out meal is better!;)

JD,

Congratulations on your Daughters wedding. Great to hear her groom has your seal of approval. Sounds like the next chapter in their lives will be awesome.

Teaching older guys to fire a weapon at times provide greater results and respect than guys that have shot from a young age. Older guys haven't learned bad habits or take things for granted, and may be more careful.

Enjoy your tux fitting!! And especially the wedding.
