I did see a FWD RAV4 spun out on a street lol. That’s why you don’t take FWD in the snow.

How do you spin out a FWD? I could do it in my Camry but I had to pull the e-brake; in high school a friend was able to while moving in reverse. I've always had to really work it to get the rear to come around in my front wheel drives (but it's stupid easy on RWD!).

But I guess if one tries hard enough (or is oblivious to the conditions) one can swap ends on anything. I still prefer FWD in the snow, quite safe, although the get stuck rather easily (high ended, or can't go up the hill once all the weight shifts back).

Got the ATV pulled into the garage, so as to work on the plow wiring. Which is starting to work now... methinks it really doesn't like the cold snap (neither does the ATV as it's being very cold blooded). I think I'll just bend the contacts a bit, as I think it's that: the contacts to the relays just are losing their touch, shrinkage in the cold or something.

Her wheels were spinning and she turned too hard because she was accelerating from where she got stuck the first time and it spun out over a patch of ice. Luckily she didn’t roll it. My neighbor that ran into his snow blower and into my neighbors yard went and pulled her out. The two Camry we have hate the snow lol. All they do is spin the tires.

Just cleaned off 1.5" of ice over 5" of snow off of the X3. Stomped down to break up the ice over the snow from the X3 to the street. I'm not shoveling this stuff. 5 year old battery and wonderful N52 started like it was 80F out.
@AutoMechanic Since you're hankering to get out, please deliver 1 Fillet of Fish, small fries, medium vanilla shake, one Double Whopper with Cheese, large fries, large chocolate shake, and one xtra large pizza, ultimate meat with extra mushrooms. I'm only 125 miles from you, so it will keep you busy for a whille.

Eh, cutting hard and making it get loose is when the fun begins. Last winter I was able to get our CRV to kick out and go sideways. Lots of fun, and it validated that the rear diff was indeed functional.

The two Camry we have hate the snow lol. All they do is spin the tires.

I'm reminded of an incident years ago. Before we got married, or maybe it was right after, we went down to the wife's family. At some point it snowed and BIL insisted that he couldn't park his car properly in the driveway, no traction, car was undrivable in the snow. My wife went out there and calmly drove the car in the snow and parked it properly. The trick to driving in snow is the right amount of wheelspin. Often you need a little--but never do you need a lot. A bit of experience goes a long ways.

My departed '99 Camry was a bit of a tank in the snow. Fun on all seasons (got my Camry dent doing e-brake turns) but when I put on oversized snows (from a different Camry) and the I4 was kinda down on power as a result, it was rather sure-footed. Wife says her hybrid Camry is doing well after I got some snows for it. I'd totally rock a pre-traction control Camry in our snowy climate again, no hesitation.

Snow tires of some kind have been around since tires hit snow, so they existed way before radial tires were ever invented.

Yesterday I pulled my crusty old mountain bike out of the shed and replacing the chain and the busted rear wheel that my son ran over with the lawn mower many moons ago. I think I should have purchased a front tire, too, as it looks pretty old.

Thermometer says 23degrees, weather station says down to 11degrees a bit later. That tracks with the temps we have been getting. I guess I could start making a list of parts needed for the installation of the new water heater. My old one blew its guts out all over the floor yesterday. Cant really complain as the 6-year warranty tank made it 12 years. Saved the old elements and t-stats as back ups for the new tank. Tanks prices are high now. Happy Birthday Lilly!!!!!

And lets not forget that back then, we had REAL tire studs. NOT the wimpy ones that are all that is available in these times. DANG! I absolutely DESPISED studding new tires at the Chevron station I worked at during High School in the 70s. AHH, memories.

We have had two cars one of them is a hybrid recall and the other one is an express ticket for the one express tech that showed up. If things don’t get better soon I’ll go home and use PTO I’d come out on top doing that.

So I assume your on flat rate and you have to stay but don't get paid?

Normal week usually well over 40. Average about 53 generally. Winter really slows down though I still managed 45 last week. 0 this week because closed yesterday and no customers today. And yes they want us to stay in case something comes but it’s not looking like anything is going too.
