Walmart EverStart Maxx - Warranty

I bought this battery just over 1.5 years ago (July '22) and has begun showing signs of struggling to start, likely due to my daughter leaving her phone charger plugged in and leaving her dome light on one time.

I noticed there is a "3-year free replacement." How does one go about redeeming this warranty with Walmart? Do you simply bring the battery in for them to test?

It will be easier to bring it to a Wal-Mart with an auto center. They told me that they have a tester that they have to run before they will warranty it and nobody knew how to operate the battery test at the store I was at.
 
Yes, you bring it to Walmart and have them test it. I did this, and I drove out with a new battery. If your Walmart is like mine, bring something to do to take up the hours--but they did honor the warranty, which is nice, w/o a hassle at all.
 
I've had several replaced in the past two years. Took an H6 back just last week. If you still have the original receipt it will speed things up. Otherwise they'll scan the bar code on the battery and determine what you get back. They will load test the battery and if it fails you will get a new replacement. If the battery is out of warranty they should prorate and give you a replacement.

I've had good luck with WM honoring their replacement policy.

Yeah its a hassle, that's why I mentioned it. I guess it depends on how much time you have, and how much money you have. And that is one reason why I switched to AAA (where I can be in my own home and have them swap out my battery while the car is in the driveway).

Having to bring a jigsaw puzzle to, "take up the hours", sounds like a hassle to me?
 
Yep, just bring the battery to the store
As far as the rest of your post, charging a cell phone is not gonna prematurely wear a battery
Lleaving a dome light one time won’t either but most cars automatically shut them off if inadvertently left on anyway.

Some years back, overtime, we returned two batteries from two different vehicles to Walmart just about at the three year mark, and it was never a problem.
Heat in the south really kills batteries
 
you NEED a charger when theres limited driving, ALL my batteries are OVER 5 years old + one is OE in my 13 Vic Hammer!! i move my C-Tek from bikes to car + pickup REGULARLY!!
 
Some of you are encountering crappy stores and/or employees if it's taking an inordinate amount of time to swap out a battery that's actually bad. Take it to the Auto center cashier to exchange it. Most, if not all Walmart stores, should be testing the battery with a conductance style tester(Midtronics usually) so there's no need to charge the battery. I don't think I've encountered any store that sells batteries that's performed an actual load test in more than a decade...
 
Revival as I just did this on TWO Grp27s for my non-profit's '02 CTD. I had purchased them (MAXX) 3/30/23 and they were both testing bad approx 12/8/25 -- obviously being in parallel, one bad apple may have destroyed both.

I had my receipt and went into the Auto Ctr. The woman told me I no longer needed that because it's all recorded by the serial # -- I know this but still save receipts to minimize any possible arguments of denial and/or speed the process.

They said they needed to test them and to allow 30 minutes. I expected as much. After 30 minutes he had one tested and confirmed it was bad. He quickly tested the second and confirmed it was bad.

I then went inside to the Auto Ctr register and every employee had ghosted. After about 20 minutes we tracked down a mgr who can actually do the swap, who happened to be the very woman who told me I no longer needed my receipt. She now seemed to indicate I absolutely had to have my receipt, but I try to just say as little as possible and handed it to her.

It took her a good ten minutes to ring me out and figure out how to waive the core charges. Again, I just stand there and smile -- laugh or cry is my mentality.

In the end, it worked out but allow a minimum of two hours for the experience. And hope they have replacements on the shelf. I was extremely lucky that they had two -- and only two -- Grp 27s in stock. I can only imagine the nightmare if they had to order something.

Here's my illustrious Auto Ctr -- for some reason I'm amused by all the protection for an old Hyundai. I'm sure corporate requires it, but it still makes me chuckle ('tis good to be easily amused)

I’ve claimed warranty twice over the years. I take the battery out of the vehicle before I take it to Walmart. It’s faster than driving the car up there and waiting in line. They didn’t test the battery either time. They just scanned the barcode and gave me a new battery.
 
I bought a group 65 AGM at Walmart and maybe 6 months latter another group 65 AGM. Then a few months latter I installed then both in my F250. Then took the old batteries back for my core refund. It had been long enough that my battery purchase had dropped off their system I guess. It must have taken them a hour to figure out how to give me back both core charges.

What auto center cashier? It’s always empty.
 
My son’s Silverado had some issues with the charging system. He thought it might be the battery so we changed the battery to an Everstart Max. It turned out it was the various ground points on the engine and chassis. For fun I took his old Canadian Tire AGM battery to see if Canadian Tire would replace it, since the AGM had a 5 year free replacement warranty. They tested it and said it was fine. Coincidently my out of warranty AC Delco gave up and I put the AGM in my Silverado. Works well. It’s a $200 battery.

I'm amazed to see that level of protection.
Wish they would have had that level of protection before some 5'x5' moron with his big *** belt buckle ground the paint off the fender on a brand new pickup with 3K on it, then tried to tell me the truck had a "Paint defect."
They did change their tune however, when I pointed out that their defective employee had paint that perfectly matched the top of my fender, embedded in the pattern on his big, brass belt buckle.

I bought this Walmart 24F Maxx on Sept. 11, 2022 and it tested 1117 CCA in the store then.

Put it in my 2016 CRV as an upgrade from the 51R, and also installed a 350 A Apex alternator and the big 3 zero ga. wiring upgrade with the zero ga.and a 350 A fuse under the hood before it's routed into the cabin behind the glove box area, ran inside trim by passengers front door bottom, and exiting with a 350 A Anderso quick connect under the passengers seat. 2200 W Meanwell inverter has mating Anderson connector and zero ga. wiring.

I always include the battery temp. in F when reading it. Vehicle was used yesterday. So one day of sitting. Today Jan. 3, 2026 this is what it tested:

If you look at the sticker on the battery, it's rated 890 CA at 32 F, so this battery being at 29.5 F ( a few degree below 32 ) and showing 888 CCA is basicly spot on re it putting out what it's rated for new, and now it's 3 Years & 4 Months old.

The real kicker is I bought it with an online Walmart Price Roolback of $88.00 + tax.
