Which one do you folks use? Growing up we used cider vinegar. Just used some filtered cider vinegar from local shop that makes their own to clean our coffee maker at work. Poor coffee pot is 16 years old, never been cleaned.

white for cleaning + especially in place of softener in the washer as it has NO bad chemicals like most manufactured products + apple cider vin with the MOTHER for health!! helps digestion + a tablespoon in some water before meals only TWO helps control blood sugar, only $4 @ Aldis!!

Cleaning coffee items? If you want acid, use citric acid powder is way better - ditto for the dishwasher. Frankly acid may not be the best choice. Some of the commercial cleaners are amazing and vinegar won't even come close.

For food, depends. Red wine, ACV, malt vinegar, distilled white, balsamic.

Depends on the usage. We have both.

Cucumbers in vinegar? Distilled.
Coleslaw or the like? ACV.
etc.

My grandfather who lived with us was a big fan of white vinegar. He'd pour that stuff on his sardines. Or add it to the horseradish to thin it out. I hated it.

After he passed away when I was a young teenager we had some family get together at our house and my cousin Barb wanted some vinaigrette for her salad. Told her we didn't have anything like that. She said she'd make her own and she needed oil and vinegar. Gave her oil some Wesson and white vinegar. She turned her nose up with a laugh at white vinegar. Said that was for cleaning coffee pots and we should get some cider vinegar. I had never heard of cider vinegar or even knew there were different kinds. So today, I think of white vinegar as a cleaning solvent and cider vinegar for food.

It's amazing people never clean these appliances at a workplace and people still use them like that for years. I was working on contact at a few offices and the amount of scale on the kettles was insane. I brought in some white vinegar to get most of it off.

Cider vinegar is not for cleaning, use white distilled vinegar.

This! I've stated many times I'm a single dad with 3 kids. White distilled vinegar mixed with Dawn (has to be Dawn) in a spray bottle is a better shower/tub cleaner than any product I've tried. Spray and let soak for 10 minutes and then light scrubbing cleans tiles and bath tub.

Cider vinegar is great to add to meats in the crock pot. Helps tenderize. I often have 2 tablespoons in 16oz water too.

In the old world vinegar was as important as salt and not just for preservation. Everybondy needs to have pickled and fermented foods in their regular nutrition profile. It is another reason the western diet is so bad. If you must eat Mickie D's get extras pickles on it. ....and yes white vinegar is for Cleaning lol.

Cider vinegar for making bbq sauce. If you want to clean your coffee pot I'd use coffeepot cleaner. Either a liquid or powder as I've seen both.

To clean a coffee pot, use cheap white distilled vinegar.

If you desire health benefits, natural apple cider vinegar that has the "mother" in it.

I forgot to list rice vinegar when I want just a light touch of sour with a mellow background.
