Valvoline Restore & Protect

Where did you order the 20qt box from? I can find evidence of it existing online, but haven't been able to track down any place to actually order it from.
Straight from Valvoline.

I'd bought some other stuff from them before and they emailed me a 10% off coupon. Dunno if it will work for anyone else, but it is fairly generic, so it might.

I do believe demand is greater than supply at the moment
You are probably right, hopefully they can ramp up the production enough to bring it to Canada this year sometime. I am close enough to the border that I usually cross once a month to do some shopping but it’s even a bit difficult finding this oil in the Walmarts in the Niagara Falls area (last time I went I had to pay almost $40 for a jug at Autozone)
After I have done four intervals with this oil the decision to continue with it or move to something else might just hinge on whether it is sold in Canada at that point.

I think demand will taper off. A lot of people seem to plan on running R&P for 4 oci and then switch back to another oil.

Maybe by then, another producer will prove their product is better and offer good reason for the switch.

In the meantime, used GDI / TGDI vehicle owners are the ones most in-need of VRP. Plus, extended OCIs are what got most of these GDI / TGDI engine owners in dirty engine trouble - in the first place.

So Perhaps, one way to avoid jumping back on the oil brands Merry-Go-Round, is to avoid leaping aboard it and just staying with what cleaned your engine best....... VRP.

Time will tell whether it works well enough to avoid the switcherooo back. May take another year of more posts and more threads on VRP reviews, before judging it most correctly.

I switched my 235k mile 07 FJ Cruiser to VRP even though it doesn't consume any oil.
If I like what I see on its next UOA report? I'll probably stick with it until it or me dies:)
We have an 08 TTSE, recently started with VRP
144k, doesn’t use a drop in 5k

I've been running 0W-40 Euro oil (Castrol Edge) with 4K mile OCI for years now in my tuned Kia Optima (2.0T). No oil consumption but plenty of fuel in the old oil (as reported by my UOA and my nose when changing it). No notable wear either. Since new, my engine has always been this way and why I do a 4K mile OCI (daily driver).

I've noticed that Castrol Edge no longer talks about the "Titanium" additive (while it is API SP and ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4 rated). This got me thinking and two oil changes ago I switched to Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0W-40 oil with no noticeable effects. To save cost, my last oil change I went to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40 oil (non-Euro version). Still not sure which of these would be the best for my application but I'm thinking the Euro oils is where I should really stick and this most likely being the PP Euro 0W-40 oil.

However, after wading into all these VRP threads, I'm thinking of giving this a try. While it is not available in 0W-40 (yet), I'd be tempted to try the 5W-30 (via 5qt jug on Amazon for $37). That grade is recommended for my engine but given my tune and the fuel dilution of this GDI engine, I've run 0W-40 to date. I will still keep my 4K mile OCI with the Fram Ultra XG filter. And yes, I pre-fill my filter with oil and even shake my oil jug thoroughly before opening it (in honor of a long gone BITOG member).

Thoughts on all that?

I have eyeballed the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w40 @ Walmart.com myself and have Mobil-1 Euro 0w40 in my garage.
I-too have purchased a couple jugs of 5w30 VRP for my Hyundai 2.4 GDI. I'm keeping our Kia on HPL for another two OCIs at least.

The Titanium stuff-lacking might be what's holding up production of the new 25k Castrol Edge Gold Jugs on a national level. Just hints of it has been showing up here & there. The Gold's history says it's a slow seller on store shelves - as is Ultra Platinum. The oil producers sell these two badges at a much high level to oil change shops, huge car rental chains.....etc. So they could care-less about us BITOG members coming up empty-handed.
