Valvoline Restore & Protect

^^^ "Come on man ... those are fake and staged videos, there's no proof it actually works" ( <--- mentality of disbelievers). 😄 🙃 ;)

I’d really like to see R&P working. Since it went on shelves 1/2024 there should be good pictures/videos. The biggest improvement I’ve seen was Hohn’s post. Are there other posts on here?

Try doing a search in this forum for Valvoline Restore or VRP. Or look at the "Simiar Threads" shown at the bottom of this page.

Look through the "Similar Threads" list at the bottom of this thread, then look at the Similar Threads at the bottom of every one of those threads, etc.

I haven’t seen any pictures or videos in those have you?
I have personally posted photos in this thread when I pulled my valve cover after 4 OCIs of VRP on a car with a poor maintenance record for the 234k miles. Almost spotless in the photos with the exception of where the oil didn’t fully drain off spots in the valve train.

The oil has only been on the market for a year. Very-very few have run four OCIs of VRP in a single year.
If you have doubts about VRP effectiveness, buy something else next time. Or do like I'm doing, having bought three jugs without the benefit of watching any of these VRP videos. I never watched any Amsoil or HPL videos before I purchased and used their boutique oils.

Never watched any Castrol, Mobil-1 or Pennzoil videos either in the past 21 years here. Find an oil that you want to try out and judge it for yourself. I never ask friends or relatives which restaurant to eat at and which movie to go see. I figure out all those things all by myself. My tastes and your tastes are probably different and so are all the opinions around here on VRP motor oil.

Don't let anyone else persuade you. It's best to persuade yourself.

Subaru’s have 3000 mile intervals for severe driving so that’d be 4 changes over 12000 miles. The main purpose of R&P has been piston deposits and a lot of people have reported reduced oil consumption. I don’t doubt those reports. I don’t have any oil burners but I do have varnish. It doesn’t matter if I can get rid of it or not, they’re old cars. I do have a passing interest if R&P significantly removes varnish. So far I haven’t seen much at all that that has been shown. I’m asking if anyone can point me to some visual proof of significant improvement, ie. some before & after. I have oil in my car and garage so I don’t need any in the immediate future.

So you haven’t seen anything on here?
Sure there have been some stuff posted here. I've tried to steer you in the right direction, now it's up to you to go find the stuff you're looking for. You can dig stuff up just as well as anyone else I would assume. If you don't think it works by now, you probably never will believe it works. 😄

Yeah I saw your posts. I was hoping for the old before and after and you just have the after. Thanks.
The big reason you don’t see many before photos generally speaking is most of us start our testing with the goal of reducing oil consumption. Varnish cleaning is a side effect for us but not the main goal. And most people don’t go pulling valve covers unless there is a leak or other issue. I only pulled mine because it was easy and I was curious

I hear you. There’s a good amount of engines that have some view through the fill hole, like Hohn’s videos. You only know you have varnish if you can see it. You only know the varnish is getting removed if you see it. It feels like I’m taking crazy pills with the other pushback.

@irollo There are enough posts by reputable board members proving it does something their previous oils weren’t doing. Namely, some cleaning by reduced oil consumption alone. Anecdotal posts on cleaning visually may not have before photos, but you have to accept what others note about their general consumption history and accept they are telling the truth with improved consumption. That’s enough proof for me to try it later this year.

Wait for @Glenda W. To post their review soon. Supposedly a big difference.
