THE ENDIt’s a API SQ, ILSAC GF-7A oil. It’s as good if not better than any other oil meeting those specs when it comes to “wear”.
My own and many others are showing iron wear rates of about 1ppm/1k miles. There are plenty of used oil analysis here to show it does well.
Look them over.

You will struggle to find any oil that consistently outperforms Valvoline Restore and Protect by this measure, regardless how much you spend.
and suddenly things below 3.5 HTHS offer superior protectionAnd there is no “wear data” here nor elsewhere that’s available. Uncontrolled $35 spectrographic analyses are not wear data for comparative analysis.
The imagination over the relevance of a cheap UOA continues.
Superior to what?and suddenly things below 3.5 HTHS offer superior protection
I can catch 5W-20 now and then, but I prefer 5W-30. I have to order it online and they ship to my house. Get two jugs at a time for free shipping. Plus, these days with some unknown out there, nice to have an oil change in the hole.Just went to 2 Walmart no Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30. ...went with the usual extended protection high mileage 5w30![]()
I have Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 on hand, but I picked up 3 of those $4 Quaker State 5W-20 AZ jugs-always nice to have cheap insurance!I can catch 5W-20 now and then, but I prefer 5W-30. Walmart screwups and the annual AZ and AAP clearances. Companies in many US states have to pay an annual warehouse tax, so they have the stores clear out the slow sellers with high stock.$4 Quaker State jugs ?!?!
Are they full synthetic?
How does USA get some cheap deals like that?!?
Also, I've read some people used 1-2 qts Valvoline Restore and Protect as either part of oil change or top up between OCI and have noticed improvements.

I don't know how it protects yet, but it feels so goood...
Yes, only that grade. I haven't seen it in-store yet.Technically the 0W-16 flavor is SQ/GF-7A, the others as still as you listed.
