I'm sure it's not SP but I am going to have to double check whether it's SN or SN+. Fresh Wally's purchase so it's current.

It's SN with a the usual legion of Euro approvals. I didn't do a TBN, with the approvals it has it has to be over 10 so no point.

SP in only applicable to viscosity grades SAE 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30.

I don't think that is true. The TDS for PP 5W-40 shows API SP:

Interesting. Maybe I got it mixed up with ILSAC GF-6 which applies to the fuel efficient viscosity grades.

I don't think that is true. The TDS for PP 5W-40 shows API SP:

But the limit on P in API SP is 800 and the P in Valvoline Euro OP posted is 848.
So it can't be SP.
What is the P in PP 5W-40?

This sample was SN. But the new QS Euro 5w40 we've been discussing on the Euro oils forum is SP.

Different limits for SP in 40 grade maybe?

EDIT: Nope I'm wrong the QS is SN+. Never mind.

Hummm ... no Moly like some of their other oils - anyone know if this Euro 5W-40 had Moly at one time? Wondering if Valvoline has changed their Advanced full synthetic when they went to SP ??
