I guess my problem is not with the location of where they are made. As has been pointed out-American Industry can produce high quality vehicles in "American" and "Japanese" car lines. And of course you can find any number of GM engines/drive train that can go the distance.
My issue is with the "build it just as good as it needs to be to get by-and don't do any innovation which will put the vehicle ahead of other car manufactures (read $$$$$$)) GM corporate mentality.
Sorry GM (to me) builds dynasaurs for the masses. Just an opinion. And there are some exceptions out there. Right off of the top I can't think of any now though.
