2000 Dodge Durango w/5.2L with 256K miles
Just had the OEM (second one) upper radiator recently let go. The OEM hose is one piece with the filler neck built into it approximately in the middle. Instead of getting another OEM hose I got Dayco 72046 and 72047 hose and a new filler neck and installed. It saved a few bucks from the OEM but mostly did it out of convienence plus local dealer did not have it in stock and I wanted to fix it that day. (It could have waited but....) The OEM hose had a spring that ran thru the length of the hose. The new hoses did not have a spring so I have assumed not needed and installed the new hoses with out the spring but am now second guessing myself although so far (just two days) no problems. I have had it to temp a few times but no prolonged runs.
Thoughts?
