Overkill maintenance is better than by-the-book maintenance.
I'm no spring chicken myself, and I believe that the worst sin an automobile can commit is to be boring. I can think of no worse punishment than being forced to drive an anodyne, anesthetized, soul-slaughtering appliance.Hell, I like EV's, I like a functional autopilot, I even don't mind stop-start when done right, nor am I hung up on a V8 engine like my wife is (southern girl). But good god, if a car is not stupidly responsive, comfortable and fun to drive, I don't want it. Even as an old man, I want all the performance criteria to be world class while avoiding being numb.
Jeff what about the Corvair Corsa with 4 carbs? Tell me you wouldn't like that model too.65 thru 67 GTO preferred, but more likely Corvair Hill... Of course the Monza Turbo might not be too bad, so there's that.
There is no anecdotal evidence to support that....as a matter of fact with what the average age of "Americas Fleet" is, which was just announced (12plus years) it would seem the opposite is just as true.Overkill maintenance is better than by-the-book maintenance.
Tell it to pretty much any former or current GM LFX or 2.4 owners. There is no anecdotal evidence to support that....as a matter of fact with what the average age of "Americas Fleet" is, which was just announced (12plus years) it would seem the opposite is just as true.
One of my cars has no keys, no buttons, no nuthin. Get in and go.Push button start sucks and is unreliable.
LolProbably the hill down the street from me. The one with the unprotected left and blind entrances on the cross street.
There are always examples of poor engineer from just about any manufacturer.Tell it to pretty much any former or current GM LFX or 2.4 owners.
I would like to have a buck for every points, plugs ,rotor button and condenser I sold in my Dads old Western Auto Store,,,long long ago...Electronic ignition is complicated and unnecessary. If the car/truck doesn’t have points and condenser, you can keep it.
I don’t know…. You couldn’t pay me to take a boring appliance on wheels with a manual over something fun with an automatic.Probably a couple of things, but this is the most important one: Ordinary manual cars are more fun than fun DCT/automatics/EVs.
I don't know why, but manual transmissions add so much joy to my daily life. Stop and go traffic is less boring, because there's something to do. I heal and toe all downshifts every time when slowing down or coming to a stop. I play guitar and a bit of piano, and driving manual gives me a buzz or "fizz" of playing an instrument and nailing a song or coming up with something you really like. Taking away the ICE is like going deaf. Taking away the manual is like ripping an instrument from my hands.
I've had the privilege of driving some very interesting cars that aren't manual or ICE. Recent examples are Polestar 2, auto GR Supra (on race track), and Elantra N (also on track), and while they had fun and enjoyable aspects about them, it's just not where my passion lies.
