Update on the 2022 Kia Soul - my first issue

I agree 💯. For $1k he can have installed a new stereo with speakers the will blow the windows out of that KIA

Or else, he can get a pretty nice stereo for a fraction of what Kia wants to charge him (without Goodwill adjustment) for a unit that is probably nothing more than a rebadged Hodozzy (or its equivalent.)

I replaced my entire sound system including running power and some new speaker wires in the Tundra so I'm confident I can do this job - just hadn't thought about aftermarket - thank you!
I'd go Pioneer or Clarion (which is back in business) but hard to find. Get an mtx audio amplifier which I still think are made in Wisconsin.

Aftermarket stereo has pretty amazing sound - and can still do camera and navigation - you name it … son had this display up that looked like a drone was flying over us 🧐

Nice sound system will mitigate the road noise
Not really, noise canceling headphones will mitigate road noise. A nice sound system will just sound not nice and mix with the road noise, which defeats the purpose of installing a nice sound system in the first place.

You want a high quality sound system in the quietest vehicle possible to actually enjoy it.

Honestly the Service Manager should be fighting for your goodwill repair. Especially since you’re having the dealer do all the maintenance services. I guess times have changed…

$1000 for a junk radio that broke in 2 years. Go aftermarket or check ebay. Probably not worth more than $100
Well, that’s not necessarily an indication that all of them are like that.

I had the radio/navigation unit replaced after two years, fortunately still under warranty, on my Chrysler minivan and the replacement works fine to this day.

But I agree that $1k is quite a steep price to pay so soon after the warranty expired.

Looks like OP only spent about $1000 (lifetime) for the CVT service, brake fluid and brakes.
He didn't visit the dealer to spend $200 every 5k for scheduled maintenance, so I wouldn't establish this to be an example of "all maintenance done at the dealer."
