Dr. Haas, I enjyed your thinking and posts on the 0-20 oil subject.

Back in the 60's, Ann Arbor Buick, used Kendall 20w20 oils, for their regular oil services on the big Buick engines, as a standard practice for many years. This nothing new, but common practice.

I would like your thoughts on your old car, the MB S600 Sedan. I would like to own one and use it as a driver. I have studied the MB forums and It shows that it is a very complicated and expensive car to own. I am in the Michigan Masonic Home, and would like to drive one as long as I am able to drive. Sold my newer cars and have my '76 Buick Electra Ltd and BMW 733i, owned them from new. Been looking for something special that takes my physical limitations into account; a BMW V12 750 or MB S600

The older S600 cars are relatively inexpensive. If you can do the oil change and other light automotive mechanical things as belts then the car is not at all expensive to maintain.

Thank you Dr. Haas,

I have been looking at them on the MB forums to find out the strengths and weakness's. Ebay to find a price range and they really are affordable,if I can find a one owner well maintained one.

Just curious, what oil and what weight did you use on your 600?

My staple oil has been the Pennzoil 5W-30 for 20 years. I went to the 0W-30 Mobil 1 in the MB to get better start-up performance and 1/2 more MPG. When the 5W-20 Pennzoil came out I changed to that.

When My brother took over ownership late last year I told him to just use the Pennzoil 5W-30 from now on. The car had 60k miles on it.

PS I am 6'2 and Linda is 5'10, so you can see how big the Maybach stands.

HI Dr.Haas,

I've been looking at MB S600 Sedans and Coupes, they are quite nice and the price is very tempting. The reservations I have with these cars are the repairs. An evaporator/condensor replacement is in excess of $4000. Visits to dealer are murder. I can't do this stuff myself anymore and without a warranty it is too risky financially, to take the chance. The "right' one will come around one day.

I appreciate your sending the pictures of you and your lovely wife and your home, the Maybach and Lamborghini, which are beautiful machines. Mrs. Haas, by the way, "ain't too shabby", either!
