I've never had it before. I'm 27, fair skinned. They think it was brought on by some medications I had to take for un-related issues (stomach).

The itch is maddening. I'm on steroids and a perscription ointment, works well. It's going away now. I have it on my arms, legs, and my EARS! Can't sleep on my side now.

Does anyone have it? Any tips for me?

Stop the meds that started it. My brother got a gout flareup from a "prilosec" type drug (NOT prilosec). He said he NEVER wanted gout again. Then My buddy developed a terrible auto immune disease (which made his skin turn to "elephanty leather and wrinkle and tighten) a couple months after staring a residential/commercial painting business - may have been due to latex exposure or ???

I have the same thing, developed immediately after using Minocycline for Acne. It covers my back, my ams, upper chest, legs, and neck. Dermatologist put me on a skin cream called Clobetosol. I've had it for 3 years now, it sucks!

Lanolin, Aloe, and Teatree work well for me.

Treating a reaction from toxic chemicals with more toxic chemicals keeps you stuck in the loop.

Sometimes the drug you take wakes up something hibernating within you. Treat the cause and not the symptom. Finding the cause is beyond most doctors and pharmacists these days. Treating symptoms for life is more profitable.

What did you take? what are the side effects? what is in your environment that might manipulate those side effects?

drmirkin.com is a good read. Type in your disease, or your drug into the websites search engine and read all the research along with his opinion.

skin is thte largest organ, and it needs to stay healthy, skin issues are indicative of weak immune system. DIET as mentioned by another poster is your key.
I have not had a chance to research in depth, but putting on topical stuff is just covering up the root cause.

Someone pls help us define what is good skin healthy diet in terms of real foods and what to avoid.
FYI: I work at a hospital and use those alcohol based hand sanitizers and recently my fingers are reacting to them, redness, itchy, ouchy.

+1 Things like this actually work! You will develop an autoimmune disorder if you don't get away from the cause. I'm no doctor nor do I play one on TV but you need a food diary to find what foods cause flare ups. I finally discovered after 3 years that a gluten free diet has helped me the most. YMMV

Hello and I have noticed as a mechanic and working with coolant, antifreeze, transmission fluid, gear oil and oils and such; that near my knuckles would split and crack terribly. I found a product called KERODEX 71, that restores the moisture to your skin. I also every morning put a LOT of GOJO on my hands and wrists, as it seems to help some. Just my two cents here. I dont eat much if any junk food, and I try to have a salad everyday and drink like 3 gallons of water a day while at work. Drinking a ton of water throughout the day; I have read will help skin keep moisture in a lot.

hope my info helps

Get Manuka Honey online. I use one with UMF 10 for simple wounds and it really gets rid of itch. Had a bit of ezcema on my leg. It healed fast too. Small area.

I also got the medicine grade version 550+ MGO with higher UMF.

Dress your skin with it. Great healing properties. Google it and ezcema.

I went 28 years without a skin problem, worked a while in my yard one summer and noticed that my hands were drying out and splitting.

I went to a dermatologist and he says I have contact dermatitis or eczema. None of the stuff he prescribed made any difference to my hands. It is limited to my hands, though, thank God.

I've tried creams, lotions, etc. I tried switching my diet and taking fish oil. I did my best reducing stress. I tried light/UV treatments. Nothing really WORKS.

I can tell you that the best thing (so far) has been the use of natural bar soap. My hands don't dry out as much, so they don't crack as often. Eucerin cream at night seems to help some too.

I think that treating the symptoms isn't a real solution, but that's the best thing they can do, supposedly.
