I am about to go on a 350 mile trip and thought this would be a perfect time to add some fuel system cleaner. I bought some Gumout Regane cleaner. It states that it treats 21 gallons, my fuel capacity is 14.5 gallons. Will adding the entire bottle to the 14.5 gallons result in dire consequences?

It is a 12oz. bottle, if used for 21 gallons, the ratio would be .57oz per gallon.

If used for my 14.5 gallon tank, the ratio would be .82oz. per gallon, a 69.5% increase from the recommendation.

No problem add the entire bottle. If it makes you feel better add 3/4 bottle and use the rest for a maintance dose on the trip back

I believe thats "upto" 21 gallons. It probably means that anything above 21 gallons would be too diluted to have any practical effect.
If you do this only once in a while then your dosage should be ok. I use a cleaner once in a year or more so I usually double the dose. I throw in a bottle with ~10 gallons. I find that to be more effective.

Exactly. You could put a gallon of that in your tank and it won't hurt anything. Whether or not it actually cleans your fuel system??? Who knows....

CharlieJ, Not to worry. I use the full 12 oz. bottle in my Mazda and also my Honda about every 6 months. both of these tanks are about 15-17 gals. I have never had a problem with rough idle.If Regane is not on sale, I will use Techron Complete fuel system cleaner as an alternate. Both are excelent products IMO.-- Oldtommy

CharlieJ,

I do that all the time especially when I head out on a long trip like your going to do. I'll do the same next week going from L.A. to Arizona.

Like the others said just add the entire bottle before or after you gas it up.

That question has been asked before regrding others as well like :Techron Gunout etc. I can't say for sure but I don't believe it has any upper cylinder qualities. SL-1 clams to have some of that but how much?? Their main duty is deposit cleaner.
