It still seems to work fine on our 2015 Honda Pilot with 147k.
Congrats! You should get many years of dependable service out of your Ridgeline. I was very close to buying one last week myself. Ended up with a new Tacoma. Hopefully I made the right choice….
Pulled the trigger on a new 2026 Tacoma SR5. This will be my daily driver and the first Toyota I’ve owned. I’ll be sure to post my thoughts as I put some miles on it. Amsoil Signature Series will be my weapon of choice for the life of the vehicle.
About 10 years ago my grandparents did the same thing, the travel trailer and driving with it just became too difficult to be enjoyable for them. They have a RAV4 now and drive that on much shorter road trips.
Nice choice on the Ridgeline, they are great trucks. Definitely one of the best driving trucks since they drive like the Pilot.

As with anything else-the Internet blows it (VCM issues) way out of proportion.
While poor practices contributed to many failures I don't believe thats the whole story.
The system evolved over time and I believe VCM 3 and now 4 are better designs.
Pulling the system back to 2 vs 3 modes improved the motor mount life and tweaking the system to engage closer to BDC stopped, and or greatly reduced oil making it way into the combustion chamber.
When using the Ridgeline as a truck I don't believe that off the shelf SN and SN plus were stout enough to thwart carbon deposits when following Hondas MM. I'm unsure what the newer model recommends as a formulation.
Switching to AN/ Ester based oil ameliorates and or reverses carbon buildup and keeps the system running as intended.

100% agree. My daughter bought a 2016 Acura RDX and with 5k oci’s on ESP 0W-30 it’s internals are spotless at 150k. My friends Pilot run on 10k dealer changes is extremely varnished and using oil at 100k miles. All the typical VCM problems.
The Honda prepaid maintenance plans are also silly cheap - you can get one from hyannis. Last time I checked they were about $1k for 4/60. If you don’t do your own work, it’s significantly cheaper than paying out of pocket. Because in 60k, the maintenance minder will call for 2 brake fluid flushes, two sets of air filters, a trans service and 2 or 3 diff services on top of your usual oil changes.
I got rid of my dirtbike when I could not load it on the trailer without throwing my back out. Had forty years of fun on those things but sometimes you gotta find a new way to scratch the itch. Hiking works for me now.

These have the "truck dial" turned toward tow haul, where the Ridgelines dial is turned more toward handling /comfort.
Yes. But I had no need for a truck tuned ride nor the ladder/frame construction. The ground clearance on a Tacoma is a little over 10 inches. The Ridgeline is a little over 7"- access and ride comfort were at the top of the list.
I gave up riding while I still could. Sold the Harley and it was somewhat dramatic. It was the end of an era in my life that I enjoyed but it was time to move on. So I bought a Mercedes convertible to ride the WV countryside still having wind in my hair. But riding with the top down doesn't even mess up my hair.LOL

We sold our TT (for not a whole lot) 3 years ago. I do miss it, but I don’t miss the extra care. With the money saved in gas, we can afford a hotel and have learned to do 1-2 night overnights to a neat hotel and dinner somewhere. Cant do long stays, but that’s ok.
I’m prepared to camp again, but the wife is kinda done with it so it’s shorter guy trips.
