2011 Silverado 6.2l engine. Only sees occasional towing and probably no more than 4k pounds. I may be averaging only about 6k miles a year now. Truck currently has 94k miles. Planning to change it at 95k and every 5k thereafter. I have been running Amsoil with no complaints, but wondering if I'm just as well to use a cheaper oil since I'm changing every 5k. What say you? And oil filter brand?

If you are happy with the current Amsoil then stick with that and maybe go a little longer to offset the cost. But then if you are going to definitely going to do 5k miles then any good full syn will work very well be it Mobil 1, Pennzoil Plat, QSUD etc - even super tech since they have the 20k mile formula now. As for oil filters the 5k mile change anything is practically fine as well but you would do good running an STP XL, Fram Endurance etc.

That engine has afm :(
So no longer than 5k oci with top-of-the-line synthetic oil and Fram Ultra or Endurance oil filters.

Mobil 1 with an AC Delco filter.
The only thing I disagree with is the AC Delco filter. They are not what they used to be. I was just discussing this with a friend today who came for his oil change and always bring his own ACD PF61 oil filter. I had the equivalent STP XL on my shelf so I showed him the differences. The delco was lighter, had the e core and a nitrile rubber adv. The STP XL was heavier, steel tube, better media and silicone adv - just a better filter. He had me use the STP. I stopped using them years ago when I had failures with 2 of them over the course of year.

No AFM on the 2011 6.2l. Started in 2014
I thought all the 6.2s did but that could have just been in the suvs and not the trucks in those applications. I want to say it came in mid run when they were still using the 6.0 in that body style but could be wrong. Either way oil, filter or disabling afm didn't stop the lifter problems. Interval might delay it.

I just use whatever synthetic/ semi synthetic 5w30 or 10w30 or combination of the two. Filter I use whatever PF63 off brand wix equivalent I have laying around. I am out of the stash of rock auto close out off brand wix filters so probably go to fram, napa or wix. The longer filter makes it a little easier to remove and install the filter on a 4x4.

I didn't think about the SUVs. Not really familiar with them but the truck 6.2 started in 2014. Hopefully my 2011 isn't plagued by the lifter issues.

Don't think so. Mostly just the afm lifter had issues.

SUV 6.2 had AFM. AFM came in 2010 on SUV. The 6.2 was non AFM 2008-2009.
The 6.2 was unobtainable there for a time also so it kinda got to be a muddled mess on what you could get. I think the 4.8 got it some time in there also.
