Hi all…haven’t been around in a while so feels good.
Got a new 2025 ram w pentastar w 3.55 rear gear. I plan to do the early oil change schedule that lake speed jr recommends. I will probably use supertech for that. Any recommendations based on used oil analysis or not) for a long term oil. I dont drive a ton and do short trip a lot. I tow a boat in summer but not a ton either. I do about 10k per year. I will probably do 5k changes. I was planning on toughguard filters but will take recommendations on that too as ive been out of the loop for a bit.
Thanks

carquest premium, microgard select, CERTAIN STP XL’s and the new mobil 1. all manufactured by premium guard. fram is bankrupt and gone (just purchased by PGI, the mother company of premium guard but nothing new has hit the shelves yet)

Any part numbers?

For the filter the CQ G.W. mentioned is best. For oil I'd skip the supertech and spend a little more on something much better like Mobil 1 ESP, mobil or castrol EP, and pennzoil ultra platinum If sticking with 0w-20 but I'd use thicker if it was mine even under warranty. 5k is good I wouldn't push it even with great oil.

Was just going to use supertech for the initial short change intervals that Lake recommends. Either that or quaker state

I guess you could run that for 1500 miles after doing 500 on the factory fill to dump metals out early then do 3k for the second change and by then have 5k on the odo and just change 5k from there on with something better.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W20 or 5W30 and OEM mopar filter...I have owned 5 3.6's and that is all I have ever used. I have always changed my first at 500-600 miles and second 1500-2000 miles and then go 4000-5000 miles. never had an issue.

Typically run Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 and Fram XG11665 filters but the last filter did not look as well made as the 2 I bought a few years back.

I'd recommend the Mopar MO349. I've had really good luck with them looking the best upon removal. I usually go 8-9K in the wife's T&C. As far as oil its had a variety of FS 5w30 from multiple manufacturers. Castrol Edge is in there right now.

No one running 5w20? Ive had a couple lease pentastars n ran that. Figured it would shear less. Is the 5w30 really that popular?? Ive read that some prefer it but this thread makes it sound in majority.

IMO, 5w20 is a CAFE / EPA thing and wouldn't be used otherwise. I run 5w30 exclusively in our 2014 with no issues. No way I'd run 0w20 in a pickup, especially if you tow. The small MPG bump isn't worth the oil consumption in my mind.

So to the regulars here, based on what you have seen on here, what would you say the percentage is that prefers 30 vs 20?

Just for the sake of that beautiful engine I would run Mobil 1 Extended Performance or Pennzoil Ultimate Platinum.
Unless you can't afford those, change that oil every 5k miles very strictly.no éxcuse.

2017 Durango with the 3.6 is very happy on 0w-30 esp and a Fram Endurance synthetic filter. Next change will be swapping to the Carquest Premium filter and a round or two of 5w-30 Valvoline Restore and Protect.

For the 0-30 folks, any effects on mileage? Are you doing uoa? What has it improved for you overall? I am asuming it runs quieter. Is the current, most modern pentastar still specd for 30 weight in other countries? What are the favorite 30 weights on the forum? Any shearing i.e. might 5-30 be better?
