I took my 91 Pathfinder in to the shop for fuel injector replacement. spent $980 total, $380 for labor and $600 for the injectors. Older nissan's are prone to injector internal leaks from what the shop told me. I also inquired at the dealer for the same repair for comparison and the injectors alone cost $1000 for 6 of them.. I was tempted to buy the ones at orielly's for $50 a piece. But didn't want to chance it cause of the labor that's invole... I felt guilty since I do most of my repairs and I could have done this myself, just didn't want to deal with it.
so let's hear it, what's the most you've spent one time on a repair or maint? make me feel better.

'bout $1100 or so several years ago for a full suspension replacement on my 1991 Toyota Corolla SR-5 coupe.

Stang5: why didn't you just get a rebuilt motor?

Anyway, as for me: I bought a $500 car and spent $1,200 on repairs: Clutch, struts, wheel bearings, brakes, rotors, replaced all fluids and lubes etc etc..

I've never done an engine swap...If I were to ever need a new motor on this thing, I would just get rid of it and get a different car..and If were to have a shop over here do the swap I know they'll bend me over and give it to me dry..

$600 on new leaf springs for my f150. Funny/sad thing is I went in there for spring mounts which they then said were good. I usually worked 3p-1a and was in the shop all groggy at 8am when they "took" me.

Gosh I don't remember any more but I do know it was way over $1000.00 to rebuild a VW Rabit motor when the mains went out years ago, this was back in the 70's or 1980. Took a total engine rebuild, back then we rebuilt engines if possible.

Around 1989, My mom's 1985 Maxima needed the P/S rack replaced because it leaked 1qt per week. $1200! and that was way back then.
Problem 1: not many companies rebuilt P/S racks
Problem 2: Nissan buried that rack under a bunch of stuff.

Also, that car needed 4 struts, and I can't remember what that cost, but I know it was outrageous.

Combined with the alternator failures, AC failures, and halfshafts that car was a royal pain.

Friends with 86,87, and 88 maximas also all had PS rack failures, as well as the other stuff.

I spent $2200 on some oil leak on a 2001 ford windstar at the dealer. they had to remove the heads as I recall. of course it was out of warranty.

I have a 2002 BMW and I paid $1200 at a munroe shock place for front rotors and pads... guess who is now an expert on replacing rotors and pads?

Because that won't solve the injector problem. The Nissan injectors are [censored] and mine die one by one and cost about 125.00 each just to buy the part. The OEM ones are actually BOSCH, they aren't made by Nissan of course.

Point is, you'll need new ones anyways.

Your right, most garages won't even do it because they know customers won't pay that much. They won't do it for less than $2000.00

I had a '93 Acura Vigor, and had to pay $1200 canadian for a clutch replacement. Thats average or slightly under. It was an expensive little sucker.

I used to have an 88 Mitsu pickup that I bought used for $300. Spend $700 on a new rebuilt carb.

Had to replace other parts such as the brake booster, master cylinder, oil pressure sensor.

About 6 months ago I spent $750 on my Accord. New timing belt, balance shaft belt and tensioners, water pump, valves adjusted, new valve cover gasket set including spark plug tube seals, accessory belts, spark plugs, plug wires, drained and refilled radiator.

$3,500 remanufactured Ford built transmission for daughter while at college. Ouch, not much choice, out of town and reliable local shops were unknown at the time so the Dealer. However, she did keep the car another 18 months it was less expensive then the depreciation on a new or used car over that period (as well as car payments) and carried a great warranty

$500 for a used low mileages automatic for the wifes Buick. It had 50K on it and I got it shipped to the yard my Dad works at for $560 I think it was and it came with a 1 year warranty. It also came with it's torque converter. It took me about an hour to get the old one one out of the car. I had to waite about two weeks though to put it back in. I did it in the pole barn onthe floor with two jacks and 4 jack stands. I had a hard time getting the craddle in place and had to wait for an extra set of hands my Dad's to help me. I should have used the lift at my Uncles house but I really thought it would be simple. I had no idea GM used a kradle that spaned most of the underside of the car.Plus I had to wait for my dealership to get new bolts in as all the oneson here car where rusted away as in so rusted they where not even holding anything in place any more as the heads had rusted off!

Trying to do "the right thing", I/we dropped $1200+ on 60k maintanence+timing belts on our Elantra. Big mistake on a lot of levels - dealership levels. The car still runs great.

I recently put ~$1200 to nearly completely rebuild the suspension system on my Prelude. It's a '94 and the underside of the car had had it after 15 winters.

I put close to $2k into lowering my Mustang. Big job, replaced a lot of parts. It was planned and the car is mine forever so I didn't really care.

I sit here today with three nicely operating cars with no payments, so I'm not too broken up about any of it.

I put about $4000 into my old pickup 10 years ago. Was cheaper than buying a new one.

Truck got a new engine, radiator, all hoses, wp, clutch, brakes, fluids and whatever I forgot about. I did all the labor myself.

I was wondering what brand Nissan injectors were, now I know. The shop installed New Hitachi injectors on mine. Hope they aren't [censored]..
