The "Me me me!" attitude

The subway engineer, who killed a guy thrown on the tracks last week, was astonished at the number of people who were taking photos with their phones and not rushing to help this poor soul as the train arrived.

I think this says it all.

Of course not! I'm sure the poster has speed RADAR built into his head. Seriously, I am not at all surprised by what goes on. Driving with one's cranium in rectal storage is another form of selfishness. It is unfortunate that we still have to rely on this antiquated form of transportation when the capability exists to improve it - for far less money than continuing to add more lanes to highways just so folks who have poor driving skills can block them.

Sounds like Singapore might have the answer to the legions of idiots like those mentioned here.

The fact is that until society decides to fight back against this obnoxious behavior it is only going to get worse.

The lesson I get from these experiences is when possible let your displeasure be known speak out or call 911 and report these ******s.

That definitely tops the list of the most stupid things I've ever seen! No, I would not want to live around them!

Sorry Falcon - you have been treated miserably.

Let me rant with you.
Just yesterday, I stopped at a red light before turning right. We can go after a full stop, but this intersection has those horrid cameras to give tickets and generate big income. . You have to stop for '?' amount. No one knows for sure. 5 sec? 8?

Some jerk taps me with his car, then lays on the horn. After I go, he throws some hard object at my car, while yelling obscenities. Should I follow him , drag him out of the car and beat the fecal matter out of him? Can't - I'D be in trouble.

Yes, and it's not uncommon. I had an incident where I was doing 100 MPH in the fast lane, and some idiot in a Toyota Land Cruiser blasted right past me. There has even been an instance where I didn't know what went by me.

This is everyday driving here:

Then you get idiots like this every couple of miles:

what is the speed limit when you were doing 100mph? By the way, Google tells me Kuwait officially uses metric system but obviously you personally being in Kuwait trumps over what Google tells me!

I hope you understand that 120mph is 192kph.

At that point, I would have just waited to go until the light turned green, and called the cops while I was waiting.

I thought it was bad here in the USA.......

All those videos were crazy.

I already called the airlines and canceled my flight........(just joking)

Kuwait uses the metric system, but I post English figures to make it easier for people, since most BITOGers live in the States.

The speed limit is 120 km/h or 75 MPH. Not many people adhere to it, and the cops are starting to really crack down on it. They're setting up cameras every 3 km now with monitoring systems that track how long it takes for a vehicle to get from camera A to camera B. If it should take you X minutes to get to Camera B at 120 km/h and you take Y minutes at 150 km/h, you are fined. There are some blind spots, however, and if I'm taking an exit before I get to the next camera, that's really the only time you can afford to speed.

As for ludacris speeds on the hard shoulder, it's unfortunate but it does happen. I had a guy pull out in front of me in the fast lane in his Hummer today, and he was less than half a meter ahead. The vehicle now ahead of him refused to give way (I was doing 130 km/h), so the Hummer overtook him and a number of vehicles ahead of him on the hard shoulder. I got up to 150 km/h, but the H2 was long gone.

Sorry, mech! I missed your post. Was your car damaged?

Just goes to show what a civilized human being he was. I think a dash cam would really come in handy under situations like this, so you have hard evidence to go complain.

Years ago I had serious anger issues. I had a guy try to sneak his way in at a traffic light in his Camry and I refused to give way, because he was sneaking in from the hard shoulder. Guy then tries to teach me a "lesson" by doing brake checks after he makes his way in front of me. With the temper issues I had, I PIT'd him in my '03 Grand Marquis at the time. Consequences definitely weren't worth it, and sometimes I suppose not reacting to these scumbags is what defines one as having character..

Falcon, can you enlighten me as to what "PIT'd" means?

I agree with you about showing character, but I, too, understand anger issues. We see so many getting away with things and, I think, we see these instances as opportunities to help make the world "right" by NOT letting somebody get away with something.

I fight this thinking daily. I CANNOT teach anyone a lesson about driving. Even those doing extremely stupid things that they know are wrong think they are justified. The problem is ALL theirs, not ours. When we react by trying to teach that lesson what we are really doing is granting that individual control over our emotions and actions.

Now, if you figure out a way to take that thought to heart and practice it please let me know because I have a lot of trouble with it every day. LOL.

Yes. Aftermath was not pretty. Hit him on the passenger side rear quarter (not the tail) when he was on the left lane, and he went crashing into the concrete barrier separating the two sides of the road. Consequences taught a good lesson for someone young and dumb (21 at the time).

Maybe you missed my post earlier, care to offer a little insight about what you are doing over in Kuwait?

Whoa! Holy hole in the donut, Batman! I have certainly wanted to do that to some folks, but wow. If it helps put things into perspective, we have all done things in our lives in the heat of the moment that we wish we could reverse. I have known only a couple who continued to do so into later adulthood and middle age. The outcomes have not been positive. I have personally ditched my car a few times due to behavior resulting from impatience. I am truly, truly thankful that my stupid actions only affected me and my vehicles. I am also very grateful that none ever resulted in injury to anyone else or myself, but they very easily could have.

As I wrote earlier, it is distressing to read about how we hate on each other. Hopefully, we will one day wake up and realize that this competitive money-grab that we call democracy and capitalism is not the end-all (neither has communism nor socialism been). Just because we have been materialistically successful, relatively speaking, look at the price we have paid.

Discuss what you think I mean by "the price."
