The last 5W-30 vs 10W-30 thread of all time

KCJeep has it right.
M1 HM 10W-30 has high enough HTHS that it'll be the next fill in my old BMW in a couple of weeks.
More than one way to measure viscosity.
Even better, it was less than nine bucks a jug after store deals and the M1 MIR that ended 5/31.
No worries, the MIR is sure to return in the fall.
 
You guys are feeding into this useless post? Come on Merc, I used 5w30 in my 98 Supercharged 3800 Regal and drag raced it with bolt on's with zero issue and 220,000 Miles.

My 03 Supercharged Regal says 5w30 on the cap unlike the 98 and both cars receive 5w30 oil every 7-11k mile changes. Current GS is at 222k miles.

The 3800 does not care one bit what you put in it. I topped either car off with 0w20 or even tranny fluid sometimes.

I am a Master certified ASE mechanic, you'll be fine with anything higher than Canola oil.
