Tesla sales and orders are killing it...

Depends on if you want a fire or not...
No, you click-click-click to configure your car, get your price, give 'em a credit card for the down payment and that's it.

Try it yourself, you don't have to buy... Tesla

There is something about a start up American company changing and then leading the world!
The one I'd want is over $100K ... so not quite ready to spend that much coin on a slot car. 😄

With gas in LA at $10 a gallon it seems like a great idea.
Absolutely, everyone realizes they could be driving at their fairly stable electric rate, or for free. Some people here have extremely low electric rates, an EV makes a lot of sense if they are looking to spend a small fortune on a new car anyway.

2M orders ahead of you???? Wow, how long would it take to get your order after that many cars are built, 2 years?
It depends on the car you want. I would buy a Model 3 Performance and it would arrive in May. They prioritize the expensive cars and the Fremont plant is just up the road from me. If I wanted a base Model Y, it would be September. A Model X is next year.

They build in large batches based on delivery location. Austin and Berlin will help with demand, but for the foreseeable future, Tesla has no chance keeping up with demand.

Amazing, thanks for replying. May isn’t so bad. I see tractor trailers with Teslas everywhere.

They don't need the UAW . They need to be able to fire people when they do crank on the job .
I had to fire a union employee. Having a union doesn’t stop that. I could give my daughter a job though and fire the 65 year old holding the job, if there was no union. The union requires valid reasons. Different topic but thanksto unions we have 40 hour work week, vacation time with pay, on and on. These didn’t exist before unions. Did unions get out of hand in some cases, yes. The plus list is far greater than the minus.

Well it is a little pricey in Death Valley. Picture taken this morning.

Something about the success of a great American company that is leading the world works for me.

Not to mention SpaceX, Oh yeah, and then there's Starlink.

I talk about American exceptionalism all the time. I work for a single tech individual, who changed the world, no, not Elon. However it is very clear that Western culture innovates regularly. Some of those innovations become world changing (from the light bulb to the airplane, to computers and on and on) and end up solidly driving the American economy. We can go back to steel production, the railroad or use Edison as a great example, or any number of inventors or industrialists. Capable people the world over, come here to innovate, start businesses and so on. Like it or not the USA thrives on innovation, it is part of the secret to our success, and we could use a big boost right now.

So while I don't own a Tesla, I absolutely am a fan of Elon, his products and his push for technical progress. You bet I'm a fanboy and proud of it!!
