What is cash price in the Chicago area?

My endoscopy was billed out to insurance at almost $6000, insurance cut almost half of that off due to my using an in-network facility/doctor/etc. Total out-of-pocket was almost $300.

At least I made it to March before I met my deductible for the year...I've had several years where I didn't get past mid-January.

I had both scope jobs last August and am fine, but do take 20 mg prilosec a day for GERDS. I found out my GERDS was happening in the evening and that taking the 20 mg before dinner contained it well. Otherwise I had to take 40 mg before breakfast.

Having an employer who provides health insurance is how the vast majority of people get their insurance.

It has nothing to do with personal prioritizing.

I have insurance but the thought of them finding something wrong always gets me. I do goto the doctor when something is wrong though.

I need to get a physical done, been very long since I had one. I have an osteocondrol ankle injury with several fragments floating around and randomly inflamating my ankle, to top it off the cartlidge is partially torn and fluid in there. I have been putting off surgery because of fear of work and money. It sucks!!

I have had it for at least 25 years now...Years ago I was having it at least twice a week and the pain was so bad I almost doubled over...It only lasted a couple of minutes...I figured it was the cafeteria food where I worked...Now I only get it a couple of times a month...Now I deal with those roaming lunch trucks that ride around and blast their horn when they arrive...I prabably get heartburn from that... Never thought much about heartburn...Everybody I know gets heartburn.
