The Vulcan will run on any 5w30 or thicker... You will have much more issues with the transmission, rust, steering/suspension before the engine dies... Suggest you use the extra money for some Mercon V and give the transmission some love.

I just got rid of my 99 Vulcan I liked Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 but the rest of the car fell apart around the engine and transmission. I serviced the transmission with 50/50 Castrol Mercon V and Mobil 1 ATF
Walmart oil is of no lesser quality than the same brand found elsewhere. What OCI?
If you like Synpower, pay attention to when Napa has their house brand synthetic on sale for $3.79/qt. It is rebranded Synpower.
If you're near a Kmart, check out their clearance section. You may be able to get a jug of PP for only $9, but stock is VERY limited, and they may not have 5w30 and they might be gone by now.
QSUD has a $7 rebate.
No need to spend the extra money, though. You'd be better served by investing the savings in more frequent ATF changes and an aftermarket transmission pan with a drain plug.
Yes, K&N filters are trash. They switched suppliers a couple years ago, making them cheap in Mexico and with lower quality materials all-around, and they didn't pass on the savings.

If I were you I would run Kendall GT1 full syn w/ liquid titanium 5W20 in that vehicle( when I looked it up I see 5W20 spec'd for it not 5W30? ). It is an excellent oil, will more than handle the demands put on it even with your hard driving in that vehicle, and it can be purchased online cheaply from PSC. Seeing as you live in NJ the shipping will be very cheap. Order 2 cases at a time for the best overall deal( 1 case or 3+ cases and shipping is more - why? - 2 cases always best deal ).
5W20 Kendall GT1 FS w/ LT = $47.48 p/ 12qt case = $3.96 p/qt
$47.48 X 2 = $94.96 for 24 qts
Shipping( see note ) = $17.02
Total = $94.96 + $17.02 = $111.98 p/24 qts = $4.66 p/qt shipped.
NOTE - I used Trenton for a shipping quote. Your shipping may vary a $1 +/- depending on where you are in NJ.

You got it backwards..Fram is good PureOne is to be avoided. The Tough guard TG 3600 would work fabulous on that.

PureOne is good if it's made December 2014 or later. Date code starting with F12F or FxxG. Bosch Premium is the same exact filter as the P1.
Purolator Synthetic (blue can) is a good filter regardless of manufacture date.
Other good filters are Wix/Napa Gold, Hastings/Baldwin, and Carquest Blue. For a more premium option (not necessary though), consider Mobil 1, Bosch Distance Plus, Wix XP/Napa Platinum, and Fram Ultra.
Fram Ultra is actually a very good filter, but it's the only Fram I'd use.
Another good premium filter is the Castrol CAS3600. Most likely similar to if not exactly the same as M1 filters. Cool green paint job, too.

I'd use a 5w-30 in a 99.
To be honest, just go with QSUD 5w-30 from Walmart and a good filter and be done with it.

First off.. Welcome
Second.. Fram orange cans are fine if used appropiately. I have used many at 6k to 7k miles with no problems. However, since you are running a synthetic I would use a Fram Ultra, Napa Gold or Blue Purolator Synthetic filter. That way you are getting all the bang for your buck running that full synthetic oil. I have used the Fram Ultra since they very first came out and have been very pleased. But the others I mentioned are very good too. There are some really cool cats on here who are very knowledgeable and helpful. Memphis 909, Garak, Shannow, Exmachina, Wemay, Doug Hillary, DonnyJ08, Clevy, and so on and on

PP has an excellent add pack. But, just about ANY synthetic does. Just about any conventional meeting the current API does as well...

I've also seen AutoZone logos on oil jugs, it has nothing to do with the quality level...

I've also seen AutoZone logos on oil jugs, it has nothing to do with the quality level...
I've had good luck running QUSD and MaxLife in my (now) father's Taurus with the Vulcan....
+1 for QSUD. I've used it in a couple of applications, and it has delivered nicely. Not a bad price at Wal-Mart currently, either. However, as previously said, SynPower is a decent oil as well. Feel free to explore...
No you won't get any performance from a K&an oil filter just sub par filtering only about 85% @20 microns compared to a tough guard which is 99%

Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 has tons of moly and Boron as well as boosted ZDDP from the API SL standards... A really good oil even for less than high mileage cars
