There's not much a bunch of hopped up crotch rocket drivers can do to a 4 wheel SUV at highway speed.

if they have guns or clubs, they can shoot tires and break windows and if they "ride up on you"..

OK, maybe low speed on the windows, fair point.

But if they shoot at you then both vehicles can easily do 100MPH+ and if they get a tire............................

Revealed: The driver who was chased and beaten up in front of his wife and child by a pack of motorcyclists after trying to run over them in his SUV

Alexian Lien's Range Rover was the man attacked by motorcyclists after he accidentally hit a biker
Lien, 33, then crash through the mob in his vehicle, fearing for the safety of his wife Rosalyn Ng, and their 5-month-old child
Bikers chase the SUV, carrying couple and young child, and try to attack it
Lien speeds off hitting motorcyclists for the second time
It eventually grinds to a halt in NYC traffic and bikers smash the window
Lien was treated in hospital for lacerations to his face and body
Police said, contradictory to online comments, there were no other injuries

The "nice individuals" should have stopped the punks.

Besides, they are driving un-registered motor vehicles on city streets breaking traffic laws and intimidating others.

Yep, it's a shame he didn't get a chance to really hurt a few of them and drag them under his RR for a while....it's not like they weren't asking for it!

As a few commenters already said; let them try it in Pa, Fla, Vir and many other progressive-thinking states....the low-lifes only understand lead-poisoning.

My thoughts go out to him for a quick recovery and for his wife to not have nightmares of what she had to witness.

Occasionally, we see the showoffs doing wheelies down the middle of Beltway 695 during rush hour traffic and it takes great restraint to not open my car door to adjust their "driving" style.

Where are the NYPD anyway????

I couldn't even get both wheels off of my driveway with no seatbelt on without being stopped and charged, I couldn't even park in NYC in a spot where the no parking sign is obscured by scaffolding, without the car being towed the second both feet are out of it----------- but 50 cockroaches on motorized vehicles in one of the the worlds most policed cities can cruise around looking for trouble and impeding traffic for at least half an hour, and NOT ONE COP AROUND.

I didn't think of guns. But even with clubs, the driver could just swerve and cause them to wreck.

Oddly, this would do it for me.

Lacking license plates leaves no way out for a driver to identify the thugs and report them to police in the expected civilized manner.

Not to mention they appear to be a pestilence like something from "Mad Max."

I meant it is surprising the NYCP hasn't done anything up until now....most average citizens would be caught within blocks of their house with no registration plates or expired inspection stickers....it's quite obvious the police didn't WANT to do anything about it.....can't say I blame them either since their dispatcher would have sent one car with two officers to "investigate".

Do away with Bloomberg and do away with most of the city's ills!

But, you're right, with no plates to identify them the punks are fair game as far as I'm concerned.

Thugs on bikes. Regardless of who started what, the biker "club" behaviour was lawless, reckless and was designed to intimidate.

As mentioned above, I'm shocked that the nanny state NY would allow this type of behaviour without some sort of wicked crackdown. "You can't have your big slurpy, but you can drive wild, unregistered, in a mob pack, intimidating the citizens of our great state".

These idiots remind me of Iran's Basiji thugs on motorcycles that terrorise with impunity, sanctioned unofficially by the state. Where was the law???

Many years ago, I was driving down I-71 in our Vanagon.
My mother was in the passenger seat.
We got boxed in by a group of riders who apparently found the whole thing pretty amusing.
In a Vanagon, the option of using a lot of speed just isn't there.
However, a Vanagon is quite tall and imposing as compare to most small vans or Harleys.
A quick twitch of the steering wheel to the left cleared the bikes from our side, and they stayed well away from us after that.
I didn't hit anyone and wasn't really trying to.
I just put a little fear in them.

In 1970 a single rider caught up to the drivers side of my jeep. I looked in the side mirror and saw him drawing a silver revolver from his belt with his right hand. I jerked left and wiped him and his bike. Don't know what he was thinking. My reaction was automatic and instinctive. Surely he did not expect anything else. This was overseas. Perhaps he was looking to add to the body count or just to obtain my weapons. I didn't stay around to find out.

These riders in this video must have been high or something. No rational biker could expect to survive a bike-SUV encounter. I wonder if they made this driver as a wimp or somebody they could toy with.

Less likely to occur in Missouri because a permit is not required to carry a weapon on your person in your vehicle. Many older people I know that don't have concealed carry permits do have loaded pistols in their vehicles. They just leave them in the vehicle all the time. Terrible practice.

The SUV driver should have run over all who tried to stop him. Its a shame he didn't have a weapon (GUN) to defend himself and his family. I hope the trash gets everything it deserves.

The delay in police response might be due to cops failing to amass enough officers to deal with the sizable number of unruly riders. Surely, the dispatcher didn't want to send a cop or two to deal with the situation without sufficient backup.

What country was this in?

My guess is that these guys were trying to shut down an interstate so they could ride wheelies and showboat, and that the SUV driver wasn't necessarily a target. But clearly there's a lack of information here, so I can't say for sure.

I think that New York City should enact a law about this: that any group of three or more motorcycle riders, in motion on any street, within 30 meters of one another, should individually be subject to a fine of $10,000.00.

To enforce it and fund it, I also would not mind it at all if taxes be raised, and raised a lot, on certain classes of motorcycle and certain types of motorcycle equipment, such as helmets.

This sort of harassment directed at ordinary people on the road simply should not be tolerated. It makes me angry to see this video and think that this sort of thing could happen to me.

That would clear out these bullies right quick. It would also greatly increase the financial health of the city.

I don't know if he could have done much more. Even if he had a gun; if you have 30 biker dudes beating your [censored], you don't stand a chance.

That is a no win situation, even if you use lethal force to defend yourself.

Defensive driving 101:

The most deadly weapon you have is your vehicle, in this case a pretty good one a big SUV.

If he feared bodily harm to him or his family he needed to switch gears so to speak from normal driver to survival driving.

1. Keep moving, speed is safety, stopping as seen at the end of the video can be deadly.
2. Their are only two types of surfaces, drivable and undrivable. Sidewalks, medians, grass, are all GTG, especially with a 4wd.
3. If traffic impedes you move it, ie ram your way threw. Just don't do it fast enough to disable your vehicle.
4. Get in contact with authorities and keep them updated as to your location.

I would have used that Range Rovers power to push the Camry out of my way, or reversed and went over the bikers. With a wife and small child in the vehicle, I would not have allowed that window to be smashed even if it meant popping it in 4 wheel and going over some bikers.
