Given the facts as stated, I'm going with the driver of the Range Rover. He rear ended a rider who got in front of him and brake checked him, the pack swarmed his vehicle, he feared bodily harm, he had his wife and child in the vehicle etc. These bikers were obviously looking for trouble how they surrounded the Range Rover and were riding aggressively around it, brake checking the driver etc. IDIOTS.

You are messing with gangs and criminals (yes, I just called bikers gang and criminals), you need to expect it.

Now they are going to sue each other and lawyers are going to make out like bandits, and our insurance quotes will go up.

The driver wasn't messing with them; they instigated it. He was driving along minding his own business when they surrounded his vehicle and started messing with him.

gee arco you could watch the helmet cam video from the bikers.

a gang of 20 bikes comes up on all sides of me and I get brake checked.. I'm gonna think they are trying to rob me.

AND... ACT ACCORDINGLY.

got the old Gang mentality.

ever walk though a mall and you see 10 young men walking across blocking the whole aisle and screwing with people.

Well when you do that on motorcycles and screw with other drivers.. [censored] like this happens. I'm honestly surprised there wasnt gunfire or evasive driving involved.

The driver of the truck showed more restraint than I would have.

Can anybody recommend a good dash camera that blends in well?

I don't know if he could have done much more. Even if he had a gun; if you have 30 biker dudes beating your [censored], you don't stand a chance.

That is a no win situation, even if you use lethal force to defend yourself.

Had I found myself in that situation, it doesn't matter if I have a gun or not. I have a 5,000 pound SUV.

I would have done the same thing. Maybe even worse. I would not have let it escalate to the point where they were breaking the window. I would have the police on the line immediately and would not get off the highway.

There's not much a bunch of hopped up crotch rocket drivers can do to a 4 wheel SUV at highway speed.

They started it, plain and simple. They brake checked the RR driver. He did the right thing by stopping, then they started to attack him.

Seems like a bunch of sport bike riders hopped up on Adrenaline looking for a fight.

Well they got it.

5000+ lb truck versus 30 motorcycles.

Truck wins every time.

Simply amazes me not a single NYC cop in that distance travelled.

The SUV driver was relatively calm and not erratic.

I ride and what I witnessed in that video from those bikers makes me sick to my stomach, literally. I would have done the same thing to protect my family if I was the driver of that SUV. Disappointed, really.

^ That's what I was thinking through this whole ordeal. I watched the whole video. We don't know what happened initially. Some state the RR driver hit a rider on the on ramp. We don't know/see the whole story. Nonetheless, it was still crazy. I wouldn't have hesitated to run them all over if my family was with me. Some things I was surprised of:

1. Why weren't the doors locked on the RR? Does it not have autolocks? At one stop a biker came up and ripped the door open.
2. Why doesn't the RR driver call the cops? Certainly he or his wife has a cell phone. If a couple of cops came up, the bikers would have scattered.
3. RR should have staid on the main highway. He would have had a better chance.

These types of riders are making a good name for themselves. About a month or so ago, several stopped traffic on I-70 through KC. The idiots actually stopped traffic on I-70!) -- while riding wheelies, etc. One of them rear-ended a cop. That was the best. Several arrests were made.

Yep, once they start trying to get in, they better get out of the way. Reverse and turning right also would discourage someone at your window...

1. It's a RR, they probably stopped working long time ago.
2. Article says he did.
3. That's a tough call, I would have stayed on the main road too
More witnesses in the city though, possibly get some help.

I'm sure they're all nice people individually, but you get that many people together it becomes a gang of thugs harassing the public.

That's not necessarily true.

My Uncle used to tell tales of this, and the "Banditos" in Arizona, etc and how they would do this stuff on the highway, basically looking for trouble on long stretches of highway.

Sort of like trying to say Sons Of Anarchy (the show) is in real life..

PS: I read up on it, and "Banditos" is some kind of gang, rivals to the Mayans and Pagans, or something like that. I get the feeling my Uncle was a former HA.

Like a swarm of pestilence stinking up the street, no doubt running red lights just to chase the huge foot that happened to step on them. Hey, how about don't swarm the streets like ignorant scum, and maybe there will be no contact? It should be illegal for them to swarm so deep on city streets.

I thought they had called the cops? At least the article mentions it.
