I want to simplify my life by trying to stick with the fewest oil filter mfg's as possible..

My Vehicles

Dodge/Cummins - (Running Fleetguard Stratapore filter - Running Rotella 15w40, only runs about 8k per year)

2009 Subaru Forester - (Running Amsoil 5w30, shooting for 10k oil changes with Mobil 1 Extended performance filters)

2007 John Deere 2320 compact Tractor - (Runs yr)

The Forester and tractor can use the same filter (LF3692 or Mobil 1-108). I would love to go with Fleetguard for everything, but it appears that they do not make a Stratapore filter in the Subaru/Tractor size. I really like the idea of the synthetic filter material in the Stratapore and Mobil 1 filters.

Would the standard Fleetguard work for the Subaru and 10k oil changes?

Would the Mobil 1 Extended Performance be OK to run on the tractor?

Thanks

Brian

Yes and Yes to your questions.

but on to your goal ...

Make: Dodge
Model: Ram 2500
Engine Type: 6cyl. 5.9Liter HO Turbocharged

Filter matches for the vehicle you selected:

Mobil 1
Mobil 1 Model M1403
Other options
Champion Model LFP780
Fram Model PH3976A

thanks for the feedback.. I appreciate it..

I doubt that I will go away from the fleetguard for my truck though, but i will start using the same brand filters for the tractor and subaru..

It may be now. That was a long time ago. I'm sure Fram has figured out the issue.

Otherwise, Fram is listing a filter that no one can use.

Yes fram has "figured" out the issue, the A at the end of the filter part # denotes the design change made to the filter.
Why chance it unless you are beyond the 5 year 100k mile Cummins warranty though? According to a friend who is a service writer at Dodge, if your Cummins has a catastrophic failure and you are running a fram you become the warranty station....

Cummins was blaming the Fram filter for massive engine failure in certain applications. Allegedly the filters were coming apart internally and imploding within the engine. The only evidence to suggest that this was true was A} In all recorded cases, Fram was in use during the engine failure and B} Neoprene Rubber from the Fram filter was found to be the culprit.

Fram staunchly denied any blame and revised their filter to not include any Neoprene in the design. Cummins does not currently approve of Fram filters in this application though Fram offers a full guarantee of reimbursement for engine damage attributed to their filter {IF} it can be proven.
