Simplifying my oil changing routine

At 73 I still do all my own oil changes, albeit I've gone to every 2 years with the reduced driving I do. One big difference. I spend a lot more time thinking of what tools I need before getting under the car/truck. The popping up and down 15 times is a thing of the past unless I want to be useless for two days while i recover.
Today I'm scheduled to change out fluids in #1 son's Silverado. Front and rear differentials, xfer case and coolant. Not looking forward to it as much as I used to.

Ok I bought a mityVac and it worked wonders. But still that cursed oil filter; it takes me 10 minutes to crawl out and stand up after working under. Looking into a filter relocation kit, that may be my next project. I found an outfit that rents out a lift to D-I-Yers; but the cost is more than having Valvoline change the oil. My sons have all moved out, hmm maybe there was a reason??

srfdude I feel your pain, I’ve gone to changing the oil filter every other oil change or leave it on for 2 changes

just go to Walmart and get some 5w-30 would be a choice, as much of your engine wear is at start up, look at flow rates as CCS,mrv, even pour point,,Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w-30 would would be a good choice in this regard with less shear & vii,,and the gtl is a good base oil to consider, use a Fram ultra filter or Wix xp etc . keeping the oil clean is a must and proper oci with any engine.
The 5w30 is good but with that heat I would much rather go with a higher HT/HS, 3.3-3.5

Yup thats my thinking too. But still have to balance the fact that unless I'm on the freeway, my temp gauge is barely off the cold mark

I did what nascarnation suggested...barn w/12' walls, concrete, two-post.
BINGO, other than setting the "pads" all else is gravy.
I know, I'm one-in-a-hundred to have this advantage.
I am truly blessed and love it
