Some people are marketing companies' wet dreams. I love the , "I put x in my engine and now its so much quieter" claims.

Well,maybe it`s true?

And maybe it isn't? Placebo is a documented psychological effect.

Thanks, demarpaint.

I am well aware of fuel consumption in winter, and take ambient temperature and seasonal gasoline blend into consideration when comparing mpg. I try to compare results under similar conditions.

Near freezing and colder I notice wheel bearings are stiffer too.

Seriously.

A lot of things get stiff in the cold, like my joints! Play around with the MMO dose, if you think its costing you mpgs. I up the dose in the winter. I figure mpgs are going down the drain anyway, and a little extra UCL protection I think is a plus. Especially with the winter blend gas. JMO

+1
If your car has issues, MMO, Regane, and other products may improve performance. But again, basically all gasoline already has additives to avoid these issues. Adding these products once or twice a year may make some sense, but every tankful (???) is a waste of good money.

As many have pointed out, there are many of us here who have not seen any gains from using MMO.

Part of my first post in this thread was to mention that I got different results in different vehicles.

I will continue to use MMO in the fuel for my i30 (when convenient) because I seem to gain something there.

I won't bother with anything in the Sonata, but may try again after it has aged a few years more.

Okay, since I didn't really notice anything in my car, I decided to add 4oz. to my girlfriend's Grand Am. As far as I know it's never had any fuel additives added to it and it's always had this problem of a wildly fluctuating fuel gauge that reads full, then empty, then full, then empty, all over the place. I'm going to see if MMO can touch that without replacing the sensor. I'd be amazed if it did, but I'm not expecting much.

I had MMO free up a float on an Ford I bought used. It took a few tanks of gas with the MMO. I hope it works for you, keep us updated.

Here you go!

Show me some documented proof of MMO's effectiveness at so called "lubing" of the fuel pump or fueling system?

I'm sure I'll be waiting a Loooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg time.

You probably will since it would be pretty tough to prove to you how it quiets down the noise I hear from my fuel pump, or the float it freed up. Sometimes you have to take a person's word. If not to each his own I guess.

Other times you might have to prove it to yourself. I've proven to myself a few products don't work as advertised, but would rather not get into that.

I tried MMO on long highway trip and got the best milage ever....a 1 MPG increase...but I also kept it at 70 and under due to some winter weather conditions. I have put it through two tankfuls of in town driving with NO change in MPG. I have started my 3rd tank.
I shy away from saying it seems smoother, as I distrust butt dynos.

Not conclusive one way or the other, and it is fun to experiment for a couple bucks....But If I would just slow down, I could save some $ on gas!

My Butt Dino is finely tuned. LOL It usually alerts me if something is amiss, and I can notice slight changes in how an engine runs.

As a side note, I had a Ford 4.9L van with a Carter YF1 carburetor that ran noticeably better in very humid weather. I could actually feel the difference in idle and performance. Then there are engines that run great no matter what gas, additive, or conditions they were driven it, I've had them too.

MMO recently improved my MPG by 2.5 MPG on a very long road trip. Unbelievable results, especially when I fail to mention that I also had a 35 MPH tail wind. If I ever mentioned that little fact, people might get suspicious.

PS: Overall, my MPGs have dropped after starting the use of MMO in fuel in 2 different vehicles. About 6,000 miles of test data accrued so far. The first 4,000 miles was done with 4oz/10gal and I have switched to a 3oz/10gal with no recordable changes from the 4oz method.

YMMV. Winter time is a tough time of year for recording mpgs, at least I always found that to be the case. My wife has a habit of starting an engine, then run in the house pour some coffee for her trip to work, or do other little tasks while she warms the car. Little things like that, and the lousy blend of fuel cut into my mpgs. The engine also runs richer longer during cool and cold weather. 6000 miles of data is pretty good though. Stay with it and see what happens.

Good for you, make sure you don't waste the gas. Be sure to handle it safely.
