This is going on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The oil has been changed by my parents at 2K miles *AlWAYS* I dont think I can ever remember him going over. He has developed a rear seal leak ( 1st one I might add,Rare on a 4.0L) and is going to try Auto-Rx. Were runnining the first clean faise now and 60 miles in the Oil pressure gauage is showing something is happening. Idle pressure has dropped from 40psi to around 30psi Highway at 65mph was 50psi its now 45psi. Im curious if their is anything in this engine to clean up tho. At 2k mile intervals I would think that wouldn;t leave much time for things to build up ?

The oil pressure drop is likely from Auto-RX's viscosity at 100C being ~7 cst. I'll be interested to hear if Auto-RX finds any crud in your engine - my guess is that it will find some.

well Im exactly 200 Miles in and so far everything seems normal,Nothing out of the ordinary to report. The oil is still almost clear looking on the dipstick. Updates as they come.

odds are good something will get cleaned out, even their site says u'd be amazed at how dirty an engine can get even at regular oil changes

Im gonna check on that tommorowow Im gonna take some engine degreaseer and clean everything off and then check it in the morning to see.

It will normally take the whole cleaning cycle and at least one rinse before any re-sealing will occur. You may also wish to check the crankcase ventilation system in the unit. Excessive crankcase pressure can cause seal leakage.

We'll oddly enough 500 miles in the leak so far atleast has ever slowed to a crawl or has stopped. theirs no puddle under the car in mornings. The oil is darker than usual for this milage but nothing I would take note of. Sort of like a very light honey color.

May be the ring packs have cleaned up in this 500 mile interval. A little less blow by could take away some crankcase pressures.

Be sure to run the rinse phase with dino. Sounds like you may have this leak solved. Be patient, you still have 3000 miles to go, 1000 in the cleaning mode and 2000 in the rinse.

600 Miles in now and the car is starting to get a little more oomph to it,And the belt whine on this sounds sounds just like a supercharger lol. 1st time I have actually heard that sound from it but its probably from my growing lead foot. Oil is starting to darken more so than usual.

800 Miles and just for kicks I looked down the oil fill cap and on top of one of the rocker arms was what looked like a peice of carbon I swiped my finger over it and it was hard granual Carbon it was just sittin on top of the metal. Oil has actually lightened up somewhat so Im guessing the Pureone is filtering like crazy right now.

Not likely. The pure one is likely starting to blind up a bit making it tighter, a result of cleaning and depositing undesirables into the filter media.

1400 miles and I have to go on a Family trip I was unaware of so I have to extend the clean interval to 2K. The oil leak has definitly stopped tho. Oil looks brand new.

adam123,

That should be ok you stated your oil looked brand new. When you have completed the cleaning and rinse phase I would use Dino oil for at least 2 oil changes to make sure the seal has been cleaned good luck.
