There is a certain amount of body fat that is healthy and even necessary. By my very simple calculations, I am well over 20% body fat. In fact, at 150 pounds I will still have over 20% body fat. My wife says at 158 I will no longer be over weight. That gives me a good shorter term goal.Way to go! When you get under 20% body fat the weight loss tapers off and gets more difficult in my experience.
You look skinny!Last nights dinner at a roof top restaurant in Virginia. Seared Tuna and they brought a salad to our table by mistake and given to me to eat.

I have become a fan of Tuna steaks, really stepping out of my box now. This one was more medium, a week or so ago I had true seared, raw on the inside.

Complete disclosure ) (FYI) I avoid the dressings whether salad or the Tuna, if anything just a very, very light touch of any dressing all the time.
Im getting there! Still at a lifetime high weight discounting last year massive weight gain now gone. 25 lbs more to go for what my high side of BMI says I should be 175. Cant wait to knock off another 15 lbs to do the hip to waste ratio to check progress but won't do it now as I will get depressed *LOL* The shirt is a large, I used to be medium so I look more skinny then I am in that photo *LOL*You look skinny!
As long as your Hg doesn’t blow past 5!
Thanks! feels good I look skinny! *LOL* my wife shows me photos from last year. I find them hard to look at. My neighbors all noticed too. Yeah, I know, mercury ... I was going to have grilled tuna tonight now that we are home. After your post, I think I will go for the 93 or 95% lean burger to grill. *LOL*
100% awesome!I eat salmon instead of Tuna. It's low mercury risk. Costco sells convenient frozen packs in nice-sized portions, as well as fresh.
I've hit the 80 lb lost mark. 10 to go. The loose skin is ugly, but better than fat. Yard work is my workout right now; I built a sprinkler system and paver stone path, the latter using 24x16x2" stones, which are heavy!
The weight loss is much harder now. I'm still limiting my eating to once per day, in the evening, but when I start, it's hard to stop. That's going to be a challenge going forward.
Yes, wild caught Salmon is unbeatable. Farm raised might be questionable. My wife is big on wild caught salmon and trout.I eat salmon instead of Tuna. It's low mercury risk. Costco sells convenient frozen packs in nice-sized portions, as well as fresh.

Good job taking control of your lifestyle. Your doc knows that what you've done is possible, but very few people will actually do the work to achieve your results and then keep it up long term. It's a lot easier to get patients to take a pill.Great News!!!!!!!!!!!
If you look back my post #127 from two months ago, you'll find my doctor wanted to start me on statins
because my cholesterol numbers were as follows.......
total cholesterol 213
hdl 66
triglycerides 58
ldl 133
I told him I would NOT take statins and he didn't like it. I ended up following Dr Ham on YouTube and at HAM.com who had way worse numbers and is working to REVERSE his heart disease. His diet is based on Caldwell Esseltyn's diet, but he investigated and went further.
I want you to note I wasn't following the diet nearly as closely as Dr Ham who has had fantastic results. But I followed it fairly closely, especially with the supplements he suggested.
Anyways my new lab numbers....
Total cholesterol down to 122
LDL down to 49
My doctor cant believe it LOL. He told me over the phone. IO have no idea what my latest hdl or triglycerides are, but I don't care and he would have told me if there was a problem. My objective was to lower cholesterol and LDL and I kicked AZZ!!!!!
"I paid good money for those strychnine laced corn flakes!"So the wife bought bone broth based collagen powder. Unflavored but doesn't smell too bad.
Me being cheap, had bought "a complete meal" protein powder which turned out to have non-dairy creamer as the carb and fat component. Yuck, but I'm not throwing money away even if it means having to consume GMO stuff.
The morale of the story - find out the ingredients on supposedly healthy supplements.
Great News!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally think it was a huge amounts of fiber I was taking in. I really ate very little fiber in the past. I'd work out in the AM, then have a protein shake with blueberries, strawberries, green bananna, apple, 2 tables spoons of metamucil, chia seeds and flax seed. That's a chunk of fiber right there. An hour later I'd eat oatmeal with blueberries, strawberries, more flax and chia, apple and walnuts. More fiber. This strikes me as remarkable. Many people can't move their cholesterol despite drastic measures, and here you are, blowing it out of the water! Great job!
It seems like you're highly chocolate deficient and your hops intake is alarmingly low!I personally think it was a huge amounts of fiber I was taking in. I really ate very little fiber in the past. In my salads I always added more flax seed, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. More fiber. I snacked on carrots (fiber) and hummus. Wheat pasta and whole wheat bread added more fiber. Also I was supplementing with nattokinase and berberine which Dr Ham recommended.
Next I am going to reduce both the natto and berberine and re-test. If things look good I am going to add eggs back into my diet, rinse and repeat. I want to find the balance of what I can and can't eat to keep my levels healthy.
But I believe anybody can do this if they watch his videos, eat what he suggests, add the supplements,
and add huge amounts of fiber to the diet.
