Started a healthy diet, when do I start to feel better?

Way to go! When you get under 20% body fat the weight loss tapers off and gets more difficult in my experience.
There is a certain amount of body fat that is healthy and even necessary. By my very simple calculations, I am well over 20% body fat. In fact, at 150 pounds I will still have over 20% body fat. My wife says at 158 I will no longer be over weight. That gives me a good shorter term goal.

I had the roll, I had the butter, I had the drinks. My weight was up 2/10 of a pound this morning. I had my evening of excess, now to move down again.

Last nights dinner at a roof top restaurant in Virginia. Seared Tuna and they brought a salad to our table by mistake and given to me to eat.

I have become a fan of Tuna steaks, really stepping out of my box now. This one was more medium, a week or so ago I had true seared, raw on the inside.

Complete disclosure ) (FYI) I avoid the dressings whether salad or the Tuna, if anything just a very, very light touch of any dressing all the time.

You look skinny!

As long as your Hg doesn’t blow past 5!

Im getting there! Still at a lifetime high weight discounting last year massive weight gain now gone. 25 lbs more to go for what my high side of BMI says I should be 175. Cant wait to knock off another 15 lbs to do the hip to waste ratio to check progress but won't do it now as I will get depressed *LOL* The shirt is a large, I used to be medium so I look more skinny then I am in that photo *LOL*

During the next 25 pounds, now at 199 lbs. I need to work on getting some muscle and strength back. Slow and steady it's been, really like re-learnng everything. IN a strange way it might be a lifesaver that this happened. AS long as the radiation effects dont kill me in 10 or 15 years or cancer come back. This new way of eating might further prevent cardio intervention (stents or worse) Im in a rough place with that. Plaque all over, not just my heart area, pert scan even showed some in my prostate and I am someone who ate far, far more healthy than most Americans ever. My problem is the genes I was handed. Good news is, 5 years ago low levels meaning no obstructions greater than 20/25%
I attribute this to my health conscious food choices for the last 3 decades maybe. But now taking this to a next level. Not as good as you guys but not that far off.

Because of these threads, videos, books and was introduced to some of it at Duke conference in Sept 2025 in regards to diet and fasting being investigated which I realized after the threads started. I have learned so much about nutrition and I know I can have intelligent conversations with my doctors. I will admit, I think I know more than them for my medical case. They can't possibly review my history in the 15 minutes they meet with me, keep in mind we are now to this area and all our doctors are new to us.

The big test will be with a cardio NP June 24th. I will insist on a CT angiogram. See how far I get with that, if not, I will seriously consider moving to the "other" new medical network that expanded here. Gotta be proactive! I want to KNOW if plaque has increased and bringing me to more blockage than 20/25% .. Im not going to wait for a heart attack (if I didnt already have a light one a few weeks ago) not wait for any blockage to get to 70% where it will show up in a stress test. I want to know now.

Thanks! feels good I look skinny! *LOL* my wife shows me photos from last year. I find them hard to look at. My neighbors all noticed too. Yeah, I know, mercury ... I was going to have grilled tuna tonight now that we are home. After your post, I think I will go for the 93 or 95% lean burger to grill. *LOL*

I eat salmon instead of Tuna. It's low mercury risk. Costco sells convenient frozen packs in nice-sized portions, as well as fresh.

I've hit the 80 lb lost mark. 10 to go. The loose skin is ugly, but better than fat. Yard work is my workout right now; I built a sprinkler system and paver stone path, the latter using 24x16x2" stones, which are heavy!

The weight loss is much harder now. I'm still limiting my eating to once per day, in the evening, but when I start, it's hard to stop. That's going to be a challenge going forward.

100% awesome!

Loose skin, yeah I know thee well.

YES - I eat all kinds of fish, yes even smaller tuna. Hg is tough to reduce once in the system.

I'm back to my OMAD today!! I have not weighed myself since return though. But we were very active at least.

Yes, wild caught Salmon is unbeatable. Farm raised might be questionable. My wife is big on wild caught salmon and trout.
Too fishy for me though. I was eating flounder for a long time, recently got into tuna, yeah, mercury is a thought. Dont think I eat too much of it yet. Will see, I have become hooked on it, had it for dinner last night at a restaurant.

When not eating out, we get our Tuna, Salmon and Trout at Costco but most times at Sams club, better price and more easy to find the tuna @Sams club. With all this said, if the American public ate any of these fish regularly instead of fast food, health insurance costs would plummet!

Wow, great for you on the 80lbs. I always have been a one meal a day person, however I DO UNDERSTAND once you start its hard to stop thing. I also know about being stuck. I took off now close to 40 lbs almost one year later post cancer treatment which put on a massive amount of weight, I was zoned out, still bewildered and still weight the most I ever weight in my life. Meaning until last year, I am now at my previous lifetime high before cancer treatment in 2025 and kind of got stuck there at 200 lbs. I will get down to the 175 range which it where I should be for proper BMI. I am now just about figured out what kind of eating plan long term. Which will integrate most likely one 48 hour fast a week. ... and again. I know that feeling, once you have that one meal a day, you break down and ended up "grazing" for a couple hours later! For the record, we have ZERO junk food in our home. Nothing, no snacks etc etc... I just have to cut back snacking after dinner on things like walnuts and one unhealthy thing, cheese.

Anyway you're almost there with only 10 more to go, I am dead set on dropping the next 20 ASAP after being stuck at the level for a few weeks.
